Easy to take Thanksgiving Dishes
Thanksgiving calls for holiday parties, work potlucks and often serving foods to those that we love. Not always is thanksgiving held at the individual’s home, but at other places. This may require taking a side dish to the party of choice. These three following recipes are great dishes to take along and will not require too much time or effort to put together for the Thanksgiving event.
Cranberry salsa relish is a tasty and tangy treat that is perfect for this Thanksgiving dinner. The recipe can be made the night before and stored in the refrigerator until time to take it on the go and arrive to the Thanksgiving dinner party location. For this recipe only a few essential items are needed to make it, and the prep time is very short so a person will not be up all night making the salsa.
Salsaingredients needed are as follows: 12 ounces of frozen or fresh cranberries, 2 seeded and chopped small jalapenos, and ½ cup chopped green onions, ½ cup of sugar; 2 tablespoons peeled and grated ginger, 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and ¼ cup of chopped fresh cilantro for recipe and an added tablespoon for garnish.
When all ingredients are measured rinse cranberries, reserving several whole cranberries for garnish. Take remaining cranberries and place into food processor and pulse until cranberries are a chopped finely. Put into bowl and stir with remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours before serving or overnight. Once chilled, serve over cream cheese with Ritz crackers as an appetizer.
Green bean casserole is a Thanksgiving holiday favorite that can be made the night before and eaten warm or cold during the dinner meal. While this take on the go Thanksgiving side dish might seem like something that needs to be made the night before and stored, it can be made hours before arrival to the holiday party. This recipe only calls for a few items and can be accented and upgraded by adding some extra toppings such as bacon bits, or extra onions and cheese.
To make abeancasserole the items needed are of course; green beans, fresh, frozen or canned work fine. The total amount of French fried onions for this recipe called is 1 1/3, set aside 2/3s for recipe and reserve rest for topping.
Next take one can of condensed cream of mushroom soup and add ½ cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, a dash of black pepper and green beans 2/3 cups of French fried onions and place into a 1 ½ quart casserole dish. Add grated cheese of choice if desired. Cook at 350 degrees for 25 minutes and stir ingredients to help cook. Sprinkle with more cheese and remaining French fried onions and bake for 5 minutes or until the onion topper is a golden brown. Let cool slightly, and serve. If going to a party as a guest, cover with tinfoil to keep in heat and take away.
Appleraisinstuffing is another great takeaway dish for Thanksgiving this holiday season. Not only is stuffing something that can be made easily, but it’s a tasty side dish that people enjoy with or without their turkey dinner. Rather than having a traditional turkey or chicken flavored stuffing this apple raisin stuffing is sure to please some taste buds.
To make this tasty treat in a large skillet sauté on 1 stick of butter; 2 chopped red onions, 2 minced garlic gloves and 3 chopped celery stalks for 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper add 4 diced and peeled apples, 1 tablespoon chopped thyme, 1 teaspoon amiseed and 1 cup of golden raisins and cook additional 5 minutes.
Next pour 4 to 6 cups of chicken broth and simmer. While simmering mix in large bowl 3 eggs, one scoop of grainy mustard and 3 tablespoons of chopped parsley and 3 tablespoons of tarragon. Add 8 cups of pumpernickel and sourdough bread crumbs and add hot simmering broth to mixture.
Gently toss and spread in 9x13 baking dish. Top with butter, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover, and bake additional 20 minutes until golden. Let cool, cover with tin foil or travel lid and take on the go to the Thanksgiving feast.
