Easy Christmastime Centrepieces
The Christmas season is all about sharing, giving, and spreading the holiday joy. This is why when family, friends or guests arrive at the home, you want to lay a beautiful and attractive table for them. Centrepieces then become a focal-point decoration on the table for guests, and along with great lighting, it helps to set off the mood of the season.
However, attractive Christmas table centrepieces do not have to be expensive. Homemade or handcrafted decorations in seasonal colours will delight everyone. Usually, flowers; fruits, candles, plants, and candies make up most Christmas table centrepieces, but you can feel very free to stretch your imaginations and do something quite unique. Here are a few easy Christmastime centrepieces:
Tablecloth:
Though very simple, a red and green table cloth contributes to the beauty of the room. Just make sure the table itself is set apart in a less clustered corner of the room. A red and green tablecloth looks particularly beautiful when surrounded by white dinning chairs. Also, a beautiful white tablecloth will look very appealing with a simple red flower verse containing a mass of red roses placed at the centre of the table.
Tablecloth centrepieces are simple and affordable. Just make certain the colours are vivid if it is a non-white cloth.
Fruits and flowers:
Evergreen shrub foliage enlivens the holiday mood in a home, and when obtained and arranged in a mass, they often smell very nice. Pine and fir are good examples of evergreen shrub foliage. But collecting the foliage is not enough, you have to put them in the form of a holiday arrangement, and this will require you to be slightly creative. Creativity is just how you can place them so that they look attractive at the Christmas table centre. So, do not be afraid; trim and twist and tie them neatly together and see how easy that goes.
Flowering plants such as orchids can be used singly in a decorative container such as a tall wine glass and placed at the centre of the table, or, they could be obtained in a mass and put in larger vessels. Flowers can be fresh for over several weeks and are good holiday decorations. If the table is a small one, then, one vessel or decorative container of flowers may just do as this makes the table look less crowded. However, for a longer table, vessels or containers may be more than one, and placed at intervals at the centre.
Fruits placed inside a little handmade basket or bowl could also serve as a centrepiece. Holly berries would do just fine.
Ornaments:
Christmas ornaments and holiday figurines are readily available in stores but, as with other decorations, you could make them yourself. Simple snowmen ornaments will adorn a table. They should be placed together to form a circle on the table. Also, figurines of angels or even those depicting the bible story of Jesus Christ in a manger, can be delightful on the table. Just make sure they are colourful and are not big in size. They should be placed on a neat and one-colour theme table cloth, preferably white.
Candles:
White candles of 4 suitable sizes can be placed together at the centre of a small table with green foliage scattered all around its base. When lighted, they make a beautiful Christmas centerpiece. Fat candle sticks could be tied with a beautiful red and white stripped ribbon in a bow.
Food:
Foods can add colour to the table. A nice spread of colourful and well garnished meals displayed for guests arriving the table may just be very delightful. Just make sure they are colourful and they are well arranged. For dessert, chocolates and roasted nuts placed in a simple candy basket or bowl makes a wonderful centrepiece for a dessert table.
Unique ideas:
Doing something of your own can be very welcoming and easy for you. Christmas poem verses could be written out and framed then used as centrepieces. You could have a single nice frame which will stand at the centre of the table, or have up to three frames which you can then place in such a way that they form a triangle around each other on the table. These are delightful and easy to make. Paintings or colorful pictures of Santa, snowmen, or flowers can be framed and used, too.
Also, you can bring a romantic feel into the holiday mood by placing a silver bowl containing shiny beads and white pebbles at the table centre.
This Christmas, do not be afraid to do something simply new and exciting, it may end up being very easy too.
