Why Men Buy Flowers

From 3arf

Flowers are beautiful and colourful. They are very precious because they are only in season for a relatively short time. The giving and receiving of flowers has gone on since the beginning of time. The rose has long been both a symbol of England and of love. Men today buy their partners flowers for various reasons. Women know that these reasons can include ulterior motives.

Men sometimes buy flowers because they want something, perhaps to go a stag weekend, to buy some expensive boy toy. They use them to put them in good stead for delicate negotiations much in the same way that governments make a concession before negotiations for a treaty.

Sometimes chaps buy flowers because they feel guilty about something they have already done i.e., they have bought an expensive boy toy, had an affair got disgustingly drunk and shown their partner up in public, been late for an important joint engagement. These are an opening gambit in peace negotiations.

Sometimes the guilt kicks in because they are about to do something, perhaps have an affair or buy an expensive boy toy.

The male mind works in a strange and mysterious way and often sees relationships in terms of points. The problem being that their point system is not the same as women's. So sometimes men buy flowers because they are a relatively cheap means of getting brownie points for another time when they need them, like saving money in the bank for a rainy day.

Some men love flowers and buy them for that reason. In our nutty society, a man could not buy flowers for himself without causing comment, whereas, buying flowers for his partner is the perfect excuse for anyone who sees him carrying flowers.

Sometimes a man buys flowers just because he loves his partner. He saw them, thought they were beautiful just like her and that she would love them too.

Men sometimes buy flowers so that they do not have to say "I'm sorry I was wrong", many men find it extremely difficult to say those words. The giving of flowers is a gesture of peace.

There are many occasions when the buying of flowers is almost mandatory, whether for a celebration or death. Whether the flowers say "well done" or "congratulations" for example; a wedding anniversary, birthday, the birth of a child or she just got a promotion.

Sometimes a man will buy flowers because he forgot his wedding anniversary or other occasion until this morning. He phoned a floral delivery service this morning to have them delivered so his partner would not realize he had forgotten and be hurt. In his lunch hour he will rush out to buy a suitable card and he will probably also buy a gift or he will book a table at her favourite restaurant.

Sometimes men buy flowers to try to cheer their partner up to brighten her day when perhaps she is or has been ill or feeling upset, worried or down about something.

Flowers are a lovely gesture and they are colourful and beautiful. Women love to receive them so men will go on buying them. A little advice for male readers though, never give Chrysanthemums to a French woman; they are the flower of the dead in France. Roses are usually a good choice but do not forget the little flowers, many women have a weakness for the smaller flowers. Freesia have beautiful colours and will make the room smell wonderful. Lily of the Valley are so tiny and perfect and also have a lovely perfume but are only around for a very short time in the spring. Never be afraid to ask the florist's advice about what is especially good for the time of year and do note whether your partner violently dislikes any flowers so that you know to avoid them. Outside those provisos carry on buying your partner flowers for whatever reason you wish.
