What should i get my Girlfriend for Graduation
Dating rules say you must get her a gift for all special occasions, and graduation counts. Big time. If you and your girlfriend are (foolishly, so foolishly) staying together after graduation, you need to think hard about what to get her. By think hard, I mean take my advice.
An appropriate gift depends on a few parameters. What kind of school is she graduating from? Gifts for college graduation have to be nicer/smarter/sweeter than gifts for high school graduation. Do not give a gift for middle school graduation, unless she's really popular.
Another big factor is how long you've been dating. A few weeks, no big gift. A few years, and you should be past the point of reading articles about what to get her. She should just tell you what she wants, and you should obey her. Don't be stupid.
And what does she like? Getting a bookworm a giant stuffed puppy is probably a bad move. That's actually a bad move in general, unless it falls under "she asked for it," in which case: obey.
You might think a date is a substitute for a gift. After all, it can cost more and is a lot more annoying to do. But a date is just the setting for delivering the real gift, wrapped and with a signed card. Come on, man. You know this stuff.
What to get, then?
Books are ok if she likes books, but they have to be meaningful - not just "graduation" meaningful, but actually thoughtful about what she's into and would love. Take the price tag off, and write a nice note inside the book. More than one sentence.
Jewelry is ok, I guess. Kind of hokey? It depends on your girlfriend, but if she likes jewelry why mess with success? Travel tickets to a place she'd like to go (early summer vacation!) or another larger-than-a-date activity could work. Perfume (not from a drug store - ask your mom), a trip to buy shoes, a magazine subscription (coupled with a sexier gift).
The best graduation gift will combine her career or higher education desires, something personal between the two of you, and something you can't get in the grocery store. Don't buy a gift in the grocery store, because she goes there too. She will know where it was from, and that you got it at the last second.
But really: you're going to keep dating after graduation?
