New Years Resolutions for Men
New Year’s Resolutions All Men Should Make
We are at the beginning of a new year, a fresh start in a sense, a traditional time for review and for resolutions. There are as many types of resolutions as there are people. Each person has to decide for themselves what it is they want to change or accomplish for the New Year. For men this may not be an easy task. Many men are so focused on their careers they seldom take the time to look inward and reflect upon their life.
Men may have career goals they wish to accomplish and these may be included in their list of resolutions. There is nothing wrong with this, but in addition some thought should be focused on other areas of life. A few suggestions for New Year’s resolutions for men are:
1) Schedule an Appointment for a Physical.
Men do not take the time to maintain and keep a check on their health. In this fast paced high stress society it is more important than ever to do this. Many men avoid going to the doctor either due to lack of time or a feeling that illness equals weakness.
2) Budget Time Daily to Spend With Family.
Long hours at work keep many men from devoting more than a few minutes a day to their families. Whether married or single, maintaining family connections is an important part of life. For the man with a wife and children it is essential to maintain a healthy marriage and give children a good foundation.
3) Take Time for Yourself.
Take time for you. Read a book, go to the gym whatever the activity that you enjoy. This may not be able to be done daily but at least once a week do something just for yourself.
4) Review Your Financial Goals
Have a look at the budget; see where you are and where you would like to be. Develop a plan to lower debts. Review your retirement plan and make any adjustments as necessary.
5) Review Your Career Goals.
Are you satisfied with your career, do you want to advance or make changes? Determine what steps are needed to reach these goals and put an action plan in place.
These are just basic suggestions for resolutions that men may want to consider. The key to success will be planning and review of each resolution. Actions do in fact speak louder than words so it is not enough to say what you will do but you actually need to set the wheels in motion.
