Many cities and communities features a fireworks display to celebrate the Fourth of July. Some cities are more well-known for their fireworks display and have become popular destinations for families. Some families combine vacation time with attending fireworks displays and festivities to celebrate American Freedom in the cities with the best Fourth of July fireworks display.
Washington D.C. is the location of the most spectacular fireworks display
The annual Fourth of July Celebration begins well in advance of the spectacular fireworks display on the evening of July 4th in our nation’s capitol. The festivities on July 2nd and 3rd 2011 includes the “National Freedomfest” featuring live entertainment, crafts, activities and plenty of food.
You will want to attend the annual “Washington D.C. Independence Day Parade starting at 11:45 AM, on Constitution Avenue and 7th streets continuing to 17th Street, which will feature military units and marching bands. Admittance to the “A Capitol Fourth Concert” begins at 3 PM, but does not begin until 8 PM on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. If you are unable to attend that concert, consider attending the concert at the Washington Monument on July 3rd at 6 PM, which will feature the U.S. Navy Band.

In addition to the symbols of our patriotism and freedom such as the Statue of Liberty, our patriotism was reinforced with the unfortunate events of 911. You may want to pay your respects at “Ground Zero” while there.
Enjoy the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest, a definite symbol of American patriotism and a century-long Fourth of July tradition, attended by hundreds of thousands of spectators each year. There will be a wide choice of activities and Fourth of July festivities in NYC leading up to the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks at Macy’s Herald Square. Several streets will be closed early by officials to facilitate the event and the expected crowds. The Macy’s fireworks event is televised live by NBC-TV.
Boston Pops is a fantastic place to enjoy some of the best Fourth of July fireworks
Lionel Richie and Michael Chiklis are just two of the featured performers for this year’sBoston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. Hundreds of thousands will listen to the Boston Pops play live and millions of viewers will watch the CBS televised event live as Boston erupts into the annual celebration along the banks of the Charles River.
