ALT-4 How to Propose Marriage
Will you marry me? Those 4 words have given men all around the world their share of anxiety and sleepless nights. Once you decide to ask your girlfriend to marry you, you need to make sure you consider a couple things. The hard part is finding your soul mate, the proposal should be a happy and stress free experience. How do you propose marriage? Are you going to take her to tropical island and ask her right on the beach, how about setting up a message board at baseball game? Whatever you choose, first make sure you have covered your basics on preparing yourself to propose.
The most important thing is make sure she is the one. Does this girl give you all that you are looking for? Do you accept her faults? Does she accept yours? A lot of marriages end up in divorce, make sure you have thoroughly made up your mind! Now that you have found your dream girl, you need to get prepared. I recommend that you think of some great idea on how you are going to do it. There are tons of creative and romantic ways to propose to your girlfriend. A quick rule is to make it a surprise, know what you are going to say, and don't wait too long when the time comes. It is the day to put on a show, thrive in the moment!
Before you do anything, it may be a good idea to get the blessing from the parents, especially the father. There is no other sign of respect to ask her father to give you his blessing on marrying his daughter. Don't start off on the wrong foot with your future in-laws, remember, they may be paying for the wedding. Pick a good time to talk to him. Take him out to lunch or go over to their house for dinner. They might have an idea of what your doing but that does not matter, the act is all that matters.
Once you get the blessing from the family, then you need to find a ring. Everyone has different budgets so just pick the ring that you can afford and know she will like. Finding out what type of diamond cuts, or type of band your girlfriend likes will go a long way in making for a great marriage proposal. Do your homework! Many places will rip you off! If you do your homework, you have a lower risk of being duped by the jewelry store. They will see that you know what your looking for and be more helpful and honest.
The final step is to prepare what you are going to say. Really think about what you want to say to her, it's a chance to let her know how much you love her. Practice it a couple times until you feel comfortable. You are going to be nervous and it will easy to forget a couple things but if you make sure you address the main things, you'll do fine. Don't draw it too long and make it short, you want the build up to be short and but intense, keep it under 90 seconds when presenting the ring. You have a less chance of screwing it up if it is short and sweet.
These are just the guidelines you should follow, the way you go about is all up to you. The only thing that really matters is for her to say "yes"!
