How and when to Propose
Movies and some of your friends will set high standards for a marriage proposal. Not all girls are the same, they don't all want the same proposal. Deep down every girl wants to feel special so, how and where you propose can be key in getting the answer you want from your gal.The movies fill our heads with ideas of grandeur setting the bar high for the guy. A lot of us do want the fireworks, the plane writing our name in the sky, or some other great feat to make us feel oh so loved. However, these are not "original ideas". Not every guy can do that because their pocket book does not allow. Remember what is most important is really knowing your lady before you propose.If you KNOW your girl, her heart, her soul you will know how and when to propose to her. It may not have to be extravagant but it should mean something to the both of you. It has to be romantic and meaningful. Keep in mind that timing is important too.Many guys wait too long and then a proposal becomes unwanted simply because you've passed her expiration date. If a girl is made to wait more than a couple years she may begin to feel like you don't plan on ever asking her to spend the rest of her life with you. Feelings of resentment can set in and ruin the relationship. If she begins to feel this way she might be having thoughts of moving on when you are thinking of marriage. Don't wait too long.You also don't want to propose too soon. If you propose in the first six months it could be premature. There are cases where a couple has met and married within a few months and it's lasted fifty years but these instances are few and far between. You probably won't know her well enough to give her the proposal of her dreams within a few weeks or a couple months. Love at first sight is a great notion but be sure to lay a foundation to the relationship before you get married.An original idea for proposing to your lady comes from your heart. Take her to that special place or some place she has always wanted to go if you have the ability. You should plan ahead make sure she is in a good mood, a romantic mood. If she is having a bad day you need to turn that around before the proposal. This is a day she'll remember and talk about for the rest of her life.Once you've picked the time and place and set her in the mood then all that is left is knowing exactly what to say and do. What and how you say it is important. You can practice how you will say it but make sure it's said with your deepest feelings of love.Some guys have put the ring in a drink or a fortune cookie, some guys get down on one knee. If she has a sense of humor you could hide the ring and make her look for it. Then again, hiding it could be sensual too. Is your gal primarily comical, serious, sensual? Choose the right scenario for her, but always keep it romantic.If the time is right and if the girl is the right one for you, then you will KNOW what to do to make your proposal special. When you think up your own proposal whether it be in a hot air balloon or at the diner where you met that is what makes it original is YOU.
