Great Bridal Shower Games and Other Activities

When sending out the invitations to the bridal shower ask everyone to bring their favorite recipe written out on a recipe card that you mail with the invitation. Create a recipe box that is specially decorated with the bride-to-be's name-to-be on it. (Example: The Wesley Family's 1st Recipe Box) Additionally, it's a great idea to provide not one but two aprons for both the bride and groom or perhaps two wooden spoons - one for each of them. If neither is a good cook - make the recipes extremely simple ones...such as 'How to Boil Water!' - makes a great gag as long as those invited are close friends.

Create a list of questions to fill in the blanks about the bride and or groom if this is a coed party. The person who is able to answer this the most accurately is either a good guesser or knows the bride the best and gets a prize either way.

Have guests write down the full names of both bride and groom. Give them a time limit and see who comes up with the longest list of other words that can be made from the letters in their names.

The next one also works at baby showers. Create a tray of household items, they can be as bland or risky a collection of items as you think the invitee list can handle. The bride-to-be carries the tray around for people to examine the items on the tray as she passes by them. Or at least they 'think' that's what the questions are going to be about. Have the bride leave the room with the tray of stuff and then ask up to 10 questions about the bride's appearance today to see who was paying attention! (such as what color is her shirt, is she wearing sandals, does she have a watch on...etc.) It's a great gag because just about everyone has been trying to memorize the tray - and it didn't matter at all!

Create flash cards of household cleaners and products. Say the slogan of the product and ask for the product name or do it in reverse and say the name of the product and ask for the slogan. (Example: Charmin - don't squeeze the Charmin) I've been to showers where this one was played and it can be a lot of fun - especially when multiple age groups are together.

Create a fill-in-the blank story about the bride and groom's future life together. Ask the invitees to shout out appropriate words to describe the couple etc. Fill in all the blanks in order and read what the collected group has fortold...it's hillarious! (much like mad-libs from days gone by...)

Above all, keep the age and relationship of guests in mind. You may also want to include a game that runs during the opening of the gifts because the larger the group is, the longer that can take... The gift bingo is a great option for this time-frame. Simply have guests fill in a blank bingo card with gifts the bride will likely receive. Have guests put the gifts they brought in the center square as their 'free space'. It adds a little extra fun to the gift opening, which can be a dull part of the party sometimes - though there is probably cake to eat during that time, cake is never a bad thing...is it?

Enjoy your party!
