Great Birthday Party Games
A birthday party is all about celebration and fun. One great way to entertain kids without spending a lot of money is to play games. There are many great games that you can do for a kids’ birthday party, many of which are free.
Scavenger hunt
A scavenger hunt is a lot of fun for children of all ages. You can make this as simple or as involved as you want. With very little kids, you can leave clues around the house. For instance, you may have kids go from room to room to find easy clues. You could say look for the place where you watch shows and send them to the television, for instance. For older kids, you can send them to the backyard or in search of more complicated clues.
“Winner” musical chairs
Musical chairs is a fun classic game. You put out a certain amount of chairs and then take one away each round. The problem with this game is that a child will be disappointed every round. You can turn this around by making the child who doesn’t get a chair be the "winner" of the round and give him or her a piece of candy, a prize or their favor bag.
Hot potato
Let the children sit in a circle. Give them a doll and let them pass it around while music is playing. When the music stops that person comes out. You can do the same thing as the musical chairs game and make that person the round winner.
Sack race
A sack race is great for a backyard party. You can use pillowcases or buy sacks from a party supply store. You can also do a three legged race.
Water balloon toss
You can have pairs of kids toss water balloons back and forth. The team who can do it the longest without breaking the balloon wins.
Freeze Dance
Kids enjoy dancing and you can make this a game. Put on music and everyone dances. When the music stops they have to stop.
Don’t let the balloons touch the floor
Blow up a bunch of balloons, and put on music. Tell the kids that they need to keep all of the balloons from touching the floor.
Pin the tail on the donkey
Pin the tail on the donkey is a classic game. You can even buy an inflatable donkey with Velcro tails. You can otherwise get a paper version with stickers.
