But when you go to your favorite retail store or costume shop the day after trick-or-treat night, you will save at least 50% off the original price.
November 1st
Some stores and costume shops are knowledgeable that the trick-or-treat dates in the area may vary by several days and that many Halloween community events and parties are not held until actually on Halloween Night, which, of course, is October 31st. So many stores wait until November 1st to mark down Halloween costumes and accessories. In the case of stores that have marked their costumes down the day after trick-or-treat night, November 1st serves as the day when further mark-downs are taken. While this can mean more substantial savings, it can also mean less choice being available. So get there early!
Thrift store days
Thrift stores are very much aware that they are becoming a greater option for shoppers, not only for day-to-day fashions, but for seasonal clothing and costumes. Halloween costumes are often available at thrift stores well before Halloween. The earlier that you get to the thrift store as Halloween approaches the better the chance you will be able to get a better deal.
Following the lead of many retail stores and costume shops, even thrift store prices may escalate considerably when it gets close to trick-or-treat night or Halloween. On the flip side of following the retail lead, thrift stores will also mark down costumes and Halloween accessories after Halloween. It will be better to wait until actually the day after Halloween, rather than the day after your neighborhood trick-or-treat night before hitting the thrift stores for next year’s Halloween costume ideas.
