ALT-1 How to Customize the look of your Taillights

From 3arf

So your wanting to customize your vehicle? Your probably asking "where do I start"? Well if your looking to add some "WOW" factor at little cost I suggest modifying your taillights. The taillights can make or break a vehicle. It can cost as little or as much as you want, and it can be as little or as much work as you'd like.

Looking through a good vehicle magazine can help you find the right lights for you and give you knowledge as to what's out there for lights. They also give you helpful tips, how to information and modification ideas.

Personally I'm customizing a 1955 Willy's Jeep and I found some Euro lights, also known as Altezza lights, that I fell in love with. They cost me around a the hundred dollar mark. The only problem was that they were designed for a GMC Sonoma. So I called the nearest scarp dealer, found a wrecked Sonoma, and cut out the metal around the taillights. I then modified my body lines to fit the new pieces and lights. Of course this was a lot of work because I had to do a lot of body modifications and welding to make them fit but in the end it was worth it because it made the back of the Jeep have that "WOW" factor.

Now, there are a lot more easier ways to put new taillights in. You can buy after market or Euro lights that are designed to fit your specific vehicle. The costs of these lights can be anywhere between $25.00 to a couple hundred. If you shop EBAY, I was able to find a set for $25.00 before shipping and taxes. Be careful to read the fine print, however, and don't go too "cheap" because you will notice a big difference in quality, make and material. On cheaper lights chrome might be substituted for chrome look paint. They may have faulty wiring and may not last as long. On the other hand, if you go straight to the dealership expect to pay but you won't have any trouble finding the right ones for your vehicle.

You can find these light in all sorts of designs. You can get them customized however you like depending on how much money you want to spend. Either way your new taillights are sure to get that "WOW" factor that your looking for.
