Why you should only be Focused on the Road while Driving
When you are on the road, the only thing that you should be focused on is the road. You shouldn't be texting, and you shouldn't be doing anything else that is going to cause you to lose sight of the only thing that is important while you are driving. Why? The reason that you should be focused on the road isn't so much that you are going to do something stupid on the road, but you have no idea what the guy next to you could be up to, or his level of skill. That is why you have to be focused only on the road when you drive.
I have seen times where you are driving down the road, and all of a sudden you see someone get into an accident. Instead of making sure it is OK to keep going, the other drivers will sit there and look at the damage to the car while they cruise by at 30 miles an hour. How safe is that?
That means that you can't afford to stare at the person in the crash, and you have to make sure that you can get past the scene safely, without causing another accident. If you think you can help, you should still drive past the scene, and then pull over when safe to do so.
How about the guy who is eating and driving, or talking on his cell phone? Do you feel safe around that guy? Do you think that person is looking out for what is going on? It is possible, but what if you decide to talk on your cell phone as well?
Who is watching the road in this situation then? Both of you are just bumbling along talking to people and not paying attention to what is going on. What if the light changes, or is out? I have seen people just go through an intersection without looking because they weren't paying attention.
If you are ever on a major highway during rush hour, or going to a major event, the traffic can be going 55 mph at one point, and then be stopped to a crawl just a few minutes later. If you aren't paying attention, or are looking down at your phone, you might not notice it in time.
Even if you do happen to stop, you are going to kill your brakes, and you are going to be a little shaky for the rest of the trip because you almost caused a major accident.
Whenever you are driving, you should always keep your eyes focused on the road, and nothing else. You have no idea what the other people on the road are doing, and you should always keep an eye out.
You never know when someone is going to wander over into your lane without signaling, or without looking. You never know when someone might cut you off, or might stop out of nowhere. You have to be ready, and you have to always keep your eyes on the road.
