What to get Dad
So, you're a mom or sister, or maybe a very young child, and you haven't a clue what to get for dad. You know, looking around, how could he want anything more? He's got a home, a family that loves him, and food in the fridge and his stomach. Well, there's the non-physical things that are just there, but sometimes, dad needs a break from his life, his family, his JOB. So, a family vacation. Or, another honeymoon for the "newly-weds" with children. Find someone to babysit for a few days! It would be relaxing.
Sometimes though, you just don't have the money for things that expensive. Especially with gas prices and the economy going to hell. So, start with something more simple. Say there's a CD, or a band, that he really loves and he wants his child to fall in love with, too. Why not get that? It's a good, simple gift. They'll love it.
But, you know, all that's kind of unoriginal.... Why not make him something? Spend some time thinking of something he needs, or want, but inside of actually going out and buying, spend some time and make it. Like, say he's been meaning to clean out the garage, but there's no space to put anything. Why not make him a shed? Or a gardening thing. It'll cost you more probably, but it'll be something you put time into. He'll love it! Trust me.
Well, they're all very nice gift ideas. That's a fact. Not all dad's want a big gift though. A day without being bothered except for bread in breakfast would be most excellent. Most dad's are busy taking care of kids that they have no time for themselves anymore. Give them that time and it'll be the best thing they've gotten in years.
Sometimes things don't want to work out. Things happen, something goes wrong, and your dad needs simple things that no one thinks to give him. Give him a hug, and tell him that everything will be alright. Tell him that the world doesn't hate him and that there are people who need him. Tell him that YOU need him. If he's not the most important thing in the world to you, tell him that he is anyway. Make you father feel special on Father's Day. It's his special day, and you are to spoil him so rotten he won't know what to make of himself.
It's been years since I've given my father a gift, but that doesn't mean I don't try to make him feel good. Sometimes, that's all a dad needs, is to feel special. To feel good because every other day he feels like crap, and like no one appreciates him. Well, on June 15th, make him feel like the most appreciated man in the world!
And if your daddy, or papi, or otoo-san isn't happy with their gift, tell them they are liars, and that all dad's tell their children that their gift is wonderful, whether or not it's true.
