Video Game for Teenage Girl

From 3arf

Looking for a video game for a teenage girl? With the number of games on the market, it can be a daunting prospect to choose one to give as a gift. Here are some suggestions to help you head in the right direction.

A popular choice for girls is a dance game, either with or without a dance mat. One of the best is “Just Dance” for the Wii console and its sequel “Just Dance 2” which has been released this autumn and is proving as popular as its predecessor. Both of these games can be played on your own or with friends.

Keeping on the active theme, the “Wii Fit Plus” with balance board is another good option for those who want to exercise whilst having fun. There are a variety of activities such as skateboarding, cycling and yoga, as well as games to improve mental agility and balance.

For those who prefer karaoke, there are a huge number of singing games available. The Playstation’s “Singstar” range is large and very well established and should allow for most girls' taste in music, but there are similar games on other consoles: “We Sing” and “Sing It” on the Wii and “Lips” for the Xbox. As with the dance games, singing games are ideal for a girls’ sleepover although you can improve your singing by practising alone so that you will shine in company!

If you are looking for an adventure game, I would recommend “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” for the Wii or “Okami,” on the Wii or Playstation2. Although these require some fighting to complete, they are predominantly games about solving puzzles and exploring.

But the final category of game that remains a favourite with teenage girls is that of the “Sims” variety. These games are non-confrontational, story-type games, often with attractive graphics. There are lots of “Sims” games available on various consoles - some are better than others. “Sims 3,” previously only available on PC, has just been released on other consoles and is clearly the “must have” Sims game for Christmas 2010.

Other story-type games that have proved popular with my own daughters are “Animal Crossing,” “Harvest Moon” and “Endless Ocean,” all available on the Wii, which consistently releases more games that appeal to girls. There are various objectives in these games, but the real joy comes from living life, developing your farm or exploring the ocean with stunning underwater graphics.

Of course, it is important to remember that teenage girls are all different. Some girls may be very happy playing “Call of Duty” or heavy metal “Guitar Hero” alongside the boys; others would most definitely not!
