What are some of the traits of a good employee? A good employee is someone who is reliable, dependable and can be there when there is something that needs to get done. A good employee is someone who is willing to stay late, come in early and do all the things that are asked of that employee. Companies love people like this, so it is to your advantage to be a good employee.A good employee is always willing to go above and beyond what is asked. If a manager asks that person to stay late the answer is usually yes. You don’t have to stay late four times a week if you don’t want to, but staying and helping out every so often will gain you some respect in the workplace. If you do a favor for the boss, the boss might return that favor.Good employees are good at getting along with employees and customers. They are always willing to help others when the need arises whether it be helping out an employee stock a shelf, or help a customer get something from up high on a shelf. The good employee won’t complain, they will simply do the job because it is what they were hired to do.Another trait of a good employee is someone who has some skill when it comes to the job. They are able to master the skills that are needed to do the job and are willing to always put forth the effort needed to do the best job possible. Whether it is being a good cashier, a good ditch digger or any other job, the good employees will always be able to do the best job they can.The biggest aspect to  being a good employee is that the employee is willing to represent the company in a positive light at all times. There is no complaining to others on the job about how much the job stinks, or telling others not to get a job there. The words are usually complimentary and the attitude of a good employee is always positive.Good employees are hard to find. Lots of people want to be good employees, but some lack the drive or will to be good at the job, and deal fairly with others. Some people simply think that the behavior they exhibit toward the company ends when they are off the clock. There are those, however, that are company employees through and through and will represent the company with loyalty.
