The Artist in you is Decorating your Front Door
The Best Holiday Gift: The Artist In You Is Decorating Your Front Door
If you allow the artist-within-you, to decorate your front door for the holidays, your family and friends will be amazed! Your front door makes an unspoken statement about you and how you celebrate the holiday season. What they see as a first impression, will determine how comfortable they will be, while visiting your home.
"You are loved!" is the most important statement that you can make to them. It is also the best holiday gift that you can give to them! The three unspoken words, "You are welcome!" are extremely powerful.
Begin with your front door, as if you were painting a new canvas. It is like starting with a blank slate. There is absolutely nothing there and won't be, unless you put it there. What you decide to put on there, is going to be entirely up to you. You get to choose the materials that you will work with and the color scheme of your preference. You decide how simple or complex it is going to be! Maybe it will be a work in progress.
In this era, the economy is going to have an impact on your holiday celebration, but how much of an impact it actually has, depends upon you. Each one of us has to work within a budget, at least to some degree. Making choices is not always easy but it can be fun, especially when it involves the entire family.
Look at your door, its design and general features. Which of those can you use to your advantage? Decide what your focus of your attention is going to be. Can you convey real meaning of Christmas, in a positive way? It does not have to be stated in actual words!
Sometimes simple things, like one bright and beautiful holiday wreath, might be all you need for your front door. You can create that out of almost anything, if you use a bit of ingenuity. Try using some holly and mistletoe! Or create a candy wreath! Find some nice, fresh, cedar bows for your archway too!
This year, why not go green and convey the silent message "Help keep our environment green!" Use green bows and evergreen branches, with green metallic balls, interspersed with white and green candy canes. Add a few icicles just for fun!
Saving energy is important too, so if you are going to use holiday lights, use low energy ones. It will help you to save a few pennies. How about using all green ones for a change?
Some of the most beautiful holiday decorations are children's things or toys, the kind that one almost never sees anymore. You may have some of those wonderful treasures hidden in your attic. Only you know what they are!
Remember that holidays are about people, love, laughter and life at its best! Have a happy holiday season!
