Thanksgiving Place Cards
Place cards are the finishing touch for your Thanksgiving table. You can make simple, unique place cards without much trouble and your table will have a polished look about it. Place cards can be elaborate or simple but either way, they really do spruce up your table.Silk leavesYou don't have to be a crafty person to quickly stitch together silk leaves, one for each letter of your guest's name. These can be placed above the plate on the table. Use a permanent marker with a contrasting color to write each letter of the person's name on the leaves. You could, of course, use one larger leaf and write the whole name on it.Potted herbsIf you can splurge on a bunch of potted herbs, such as sage or Rosemary, for each guest, this is a great way to make the table gorgeous. Of course, if you are the gardening type, you can pot them yourself, too. Write each person's name on the pot with a silver permanent marker. This is a beautiful take-home place card that guests will love and remember!A small herb bouquetUse fresh basil, thyme and Rosemary tied together with either raffia or rough string as place cards. Just attach a piece of cardstock with each guest's name written on it. You can lay these right on the plate.A small fresh flower bouquetSpray rosesor Sweetheart roses in small bunches can be a fantastic place card. Spray roses are fairly inexpensive and you get lots of them in one bouquet. They also come in beautiful fall colors, such as burnt orange and deep red. You can use a coordinating ribbon to tie them together along with a snippet of cardstock with your guest's names written on them.Single flowersA single pom-pom mum works great, too. Tie the place card on with yarn or raffia in a coordinating color. For a homey touch, try using ripped, rather than cut, colored construction paper for each name.Cardstock acornsThere are many freeacorn templatesonline. Find one you like best or a combination of different ones for each place card, and use cardstock to make them. Using permanent marker, write each person's name on them and lay them on the plates.These are just a few ideas that can kick-start some of your own.
