National Parks are Places Set aside for Remembering

From 3arf

A visit to a National Park is a memorable moment, a marking of time. What better way to remember something significant, than to remember it in a special place?

National Parks and Monuments are places set aside for remembrance of an event or for preservation of pristeen beauty. When you visit one of these places, you make it your own. Suddenly you are immersed in and are part of the history associated with remembering this place.

Visitors beyond counting have visited places such as Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park. Every time the geyser blows, hundreds of people gather to share the experience. What better way to start a new remembrance than a wedding proposal in that flash mob of strangers ? Then on subsequent anniversaries or anytime a person returns for a repeat performance they could relive that special moment where their own history was made.

National Parks and Monuments are special places. Each of us who experience them hold our own memories in union with the memories of many others who have been there. Maybe a special time shared there with a person who has since departed the living realm could be remembered. A remembrance of moments shared with loved ones.

Perhaps your loved one enjoyed countless vacations to Yosemite Park, and you never knew them to be happier than when they camped along the stream nearhttp://www.sfoac.com/trips/hiking-camping/Chilnualna-Yosemite-Hike-Camp.htmlin the park. What better place to remember that loved one and sprinkle their ashes in memory on the anniversary of their birthday ?

Maybe you are looking through an old photo album and see that your father took some breathtaking pictures at Crater Lake National Park. Some people pictures in there too with smiling faces. But you weren't born yet when those pictures were taken. You might want to go there and stand where your father once stood and take your own picture of Phantom Ship in the lake.

These places we can return to again and again for generations, because they are set aside and preserved. We can expect they will be there for generations to come. Many new memories will begin here, and many people will return in celebration of those memories.

There are other types of anniversaries to be remembered as well. Those of us who lived through 9-1-1 will never forget how we felt when flight 93 crashed in a Pennsylvania field. What better place to go and remember those heroes who took control of that plane from those terrorists on that fateful day ? The monument there is a tribute remembrance to those who did what they could to help others.

National Parks and Monuments are simply great places to remember and mark time. It just makes the anniversary more special and ties it to a tangable place.
