Stocking Stuffers for under Ten Dollars
Nothing says "It's Christmas!" like fresh snow on the windowsill and stockings overflowing with a million tiny Christmas treats. Stuffing your stockings can be fun AND inexpensive, for anyone and everyone in your household! Here are some ideas to fill that space that are no more than $10 each! The items specifically noted here can all be found atWal-Mart, unless stated otherwise.
For girls, this is a great place for all those little gifts like lip gloss, chapstick, nail polish, and various hair accessories. Most of these can be found at Meijer or Wal-Mart for super cheap, without affecting quality. If your bigger concern is saving cost, these items can also be found at the dollar store, though you can expect quality to be less.
For boys, think about tiny toys, like Hot Wheels. You can buy aten-packof these for about $5. You can also find specialized toy cars at Wal-Mart, like theMarvel Regener8'rs 1:64 Scale Spider-Man Cruiserfor $4.97. Another idea for boys are action figures - think about superheroes or any recent movies that this specific boy really liked. These can also be found for about $5.
Kids of any gender will enjoyMighty Beanz. This specific pack, when ordered online, can be bought in several themes, like Spider-Man or Star Wars. There aren't really any geared towards girl themes, but girls will have just as much fun with solid-colored Mighty Beanz, which you can buy in Orange, Red, or Blue. This toy is $3.49.
The really popular item among teenagers right now isSilly Bandz. You can buy a pack of these in just about any theme for anywhere between $5-10, depending on where you buy them and how big the pack is.
If they have an iPod or mp3 player of any sort, headphones are a great route to go to fill up that stocking space. I recommend theMaxell Jelleez Ear Buds, which cost $7.75 and can be bought in a variety of colors like pink and purple.
Because gift cards can often get lost in the fray, stockings are a great place for them. Think about gift cards for their favorite place to shop, or put a few bucks on a Visa gift card that they can spend anywhere. Adults will appreciate gas cards and/or a few dollars toward groceries - but don't forget that adults like to have fun too! Unless you know they really want/need these practical items, try thinking about restaurants they often go to or exotic restaurants you think they might like to try; another great item, especially for women, is a gift card toward a hair salon or a massage. Also think about iTunes gift cards or a gift card for the movie theater. Even if you can't pay for the whole thing, pitching in $10 for it will be greatly appreciated!
If you still have space to fill, go with candy! This I definitely recommend buying at the dollar store, as you can buy a huge bag of it for only $1!
If none of these suggestions do it for you, but you're still stuck on ideas, most stores have at least one aisle dedicated to nothing but cheap stocking stuffers. But don't stress out TOO much over the stocking - it's only the overture to the REAL present marathon ahead!
