Self Image is Important as an Individual and as a Business
The subject of self-image is extremely important in the business world in several ways. Our self-image as part of a company or organization or our own business says much about whom we are and our character. We interact on a daily basis with other individuals and how we present ourselves will impact how we are perceived by others. This perception will impact decisions others will make about whether to do business with us or to give us a promotion or raise at our place of work. Both situations and the perception we send impacts not only us as individuals but the organization for which we work.
In other terms our self-image projects an image of the organization or company for which we work. We tend to think of self-image in terms of an individual but self-image plays a role in business as the topic of this article implies. The image that is projected for a business is a combination of the images of the workforce and how they interact with the customers. Part of this also involves in how we perform our responsibilities in terms of the products or services we provide as part of an organization. How we present ourselves and our products and service goes a long way in drawing customers to either our online location or our physical location.
Today the images of businesses and sometimes individuals have played an important role in the success or failure of a business or organization. We have seen images projected of business leaders and their impact in how those to which they are or have been associated. The perception of Positive images of individuals in management positions is a reflection of the business for which they work. Another point to remember is the term self-image is not restricted to individuals as a business or organization can have a self-image. The way a business conducts itself in the eyes of the public is important in the business world.
The present economy and the economic constraints businesses find themselves in will be impacted by images for which the public perceives to be in place. Perception is in the eye of the beholder or in this case the customer. Projecting a positive image in terms of how we present ourselves impacts not only us as individuals but as an organization. The image a company most needs today is that they care about their customers as individuals not as a means to make a profit. The company who say they care about their customers and their needs and support their statement with action will be highly successful and profitable.
One critical problem which exists in the business world in some places is statements by companies are not supported by their actions. This is an example of an image failure and has an impact on the customers they currently have and potential customers they hope to have. Customers today like it when companies say what they mean and mean what they say. When there is a disconnect between these two entities it turns customers away and companies lose customers they might have had in the future.
