Run Company be Good Employer
If you want to run a company, you can do it in a good way or you can do it in a bad way. The choice is yours. You will learn traits you must have to be a good employer.
You must treat your employees well. You should abstain from yelling at them, calling them names, calling them out in front of others, ignoring their ideas and excluding them from consideration when you do things such as ordering food. By taking these steps, you will build good will with your staff while lowering your turnover rate.
You must be family friendly. If employees need to take time off, go home early or come in late here and there in order to handle family emergencies, you should be accommodating. You should also let them work a certain schedule or work from home part of the time if they must care for an aging parent or take their kids to school and pick them up.
You must pay well. One thing you should do is provide a starting wage that is well above the minimum wage. Another is to give a decent raise to each employee who does well and helps boost your bottom line.
It is important to not treat your staff like they are numbers. When they do a task well, praise them. You should have an open-door policy in which you generally allow employees to come talk to you in your office. If they have personal problems or become sick, show compassion and try to help them.
It is in your best interests to earn their trust. You must honor all promises you make to them. You should not constantly watch over them or monitor them. Also, you should not micromanage them, or take away their freedom to make their own decisions and take responsibility for them.
You must use good hiring practices. You should hire qualified people and not hire anyone just because he or she is your friend or relative. Be respectful of job applicants’ time by not conducting interviews once you have finished filling positions.
Be courteous to applicants. After interviewing them, send them a note or call them within a few days to notify them of your decision. Avoid putting them down in your comments.
Be patient with your workers. You should cut them some slack when they mess up, especially if they make tiny blunders and they are new to the job.
You have learned the traits of a good employer. Heed this advice to be successful.
