Mustang vs Camaro

From 3arf

The sports car rivalry between Ford and Chevy is back in full throttle for the 2010 automobile.  After nearly a decade of absence, the Chevy Camaro is back to compete with the Ford mustang to resolve who has the better sports car.  Both companies produce a 6 cylinder engine option, but this comparison is going to be on the more debatable best 8 cylinder car.  To keep this comparison fair, this review will be between the Chevy Camaro SS and the Ford Mustang GT  premium.  Both of these cars have a sticker price of around 31,000 dollars.

First, the Mustang GT premium, will be reviewed.  This car has been around for a long time and has become better over the years.  The 4.6L, single overhead cam, V-8 engine produces a very good 315 horsepower and 325 pounds of torque.  This car can move, and with the limited slip differential, the tires connect well with the road.  The sleek design helps this car look as it sounds, like a beast.  It has very good handling, and takes corners effortlessly.  The interior for the premium package has the feel of a race car, with the well lit six gauge cluster that lights up nicely at night.  The seats are leather trim, the steering wheel has leather covering, and the dash is well done.  The sound system is crisp and clear, and the system has SIRIUS satellite radio.  There is also a six disc cd player that comes with this 500 watt system.  The outside body of this car looks sporty, with 18" rims, ground effects, spoiler, fog lights, and dual exhaust.  The Mustang GT premium comes stock with a 5-speed manual transmission, which really makes this car fun to drive.  The only negatives on this car is that it goes through gas quickly with an estimated average 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. Also, it is not well suited for winter driving with so much horsepower and rear wheel drive trans-axle, it just does not move in the snow and ice.

The Chevy Camero SS is another classic revived.  Even though it was discontinued in 2002, the reborn Camaro is a great representative of it's predecessors.    The 6.2L, LS3, V-8 engine emits a whopping 422 horsepower and 408 pounds of torque.  That is a nearly 100 more than the Mustang.  But, this car weighs considerably more than its competitor.  The handling and cornering is good, but not as superb as the Mustang GT premium.  The cabin space feels much roomier, and the bucket seats and dash have a real nice sporty look and feel to them.  The car comes stock with a 6 speed slap stick automatic transmission, which does take some of the fun out of driving a sports car.  The Camaro SS sounds mean, with a real throaty exhaust roaring when the throttle is opened up.  The feel of this car when it lets loose is exceptional, one can feel that power of 422 horsepower.  The outside style of this car is clean and sleek, it mixes some of the older camaro design with some newer modifications and curves.  It comes stock with  beautiful 20" rims, ground effects, spoiler, and dual exhaust.  Again, the negatives of this car is bad fuel economy at 16 mpg city and 24 highway, and it is not a dependable winter car being rear wheel drive only.
