Low Energy Level is Caused by Destructive Thinking and Emotions
I have a T-shirt that states, " Just because I'm up it doesn't mean I'm awake". On the surface , the statement appears humorous. The statement is true. I am frequently up, but not awake. Do you consider yourself awake? Let me share what I mean: if we allow a leak in our basement to go unfixed, we are not awake to solve the problem. Our actions in the workplace leak all the time causing energy levels to dip.
The first leak is unnecessary talking. This consists of mindless chatter, putting others down and complaining. In fact, much of our speech is destructive.
Gossip is also a leak that causes an eventual dip in our energy level. It's as if we need to find something bad about somebody in order to feel good. The juice of out story will not juice our energy level or our career.
Retreats in many traditions stress silence tominimize dips in energy, allowing for greater focus and concentration. Another dip in energy level is unnecessary thinking. This is realized though fantasizing, worrying or just random thoughts about nothing in particular. Please consider monitoring your thoughts for 30 minutes. You may discover your thinking is judgmental that is laboring in the past or future. Suggestion: We liberate from unnecessary thinking by discovering the timeless. With timeless activities, we are too busy doing and being to be thinking. We avoid being caught in the storyline of out thoughts.
The third factor in low energy levels is unnecessary tension. This is the physical and emotional strain of energy resulting from the continual struggle to win, please, hide and avoid unpleasant people. Here are several suggestions: 1) With the need to win, why not consider competing against yourself? Result: best effort is a win 2) Work on building self esteem so that pleasing others is not emotional blackmail 3) Conduct an honest assessment of how you are using email. The overuse of email can be a way to avoid a personal contact.
The fourth dip in energy is the baggage of negative emotions. Here, negative means an emotion that denies or negates. Example: Resentment is an emotion of denial and illusion. While we are simmering mad with a chip on our shoulder, the co-worker we resent is having a good time shopping or playing golf.
A quote states, "Resentment is allowing someone to live in our head rent free". The immensity of the challenge to forgive is understandable but consider how the action truly liberates. Hopefully, there is a suggestion here of practical value for you!
