Lazy Collegues
There are many signs that a colleague is lazy. It is never a pleasant task having to work with a lazy colleague and carry his/her weight as well. Employees who have to deal with a lazy colleague generally end up getting very frustrated and angry with the colleague. It is advisable to identify any signs of laziness from the colleague and report incidents to the supervisor.
Here are signs that a collegue is lazy:
A colleague who does not pull his/her weight on the job is shirking his/her responsibility. No one wants to carry another employee especially if that person is getting paid a salary to perform a given task. Lazy colleagues generally make excuses to hide from work like taking frequent smoke or toilet breaks and taking longer than ten minutes at a time.
Lazy colleagues generally form a pattern when taking sick leave. This should be identified as soon as possible and a supervisor should investigate frequent sick days taken by any employee.
The colleague disappears often and cannot be found easily. A responsible colleague will inform the senior or other colleagues that he/she is going out for a few minutes. It is understandable that sometimes employees need a few minutes during the day to visit the human resource department or speak to their supervisor but if a colleague is doing this frequently then it needs to be reported to management or his/her tardiness needs to be observed.
Lazy colleagues dread getting up in the morning and attending work. They want to find new ways to work less and still get paid their normal salary. One way is by coming late to work everyday. It is understandable if a colleague comes in a few minutes late on certain occasions but when someone comes in one or two hours late everyday it gets warning bells ringing. It is unfair to the other hard working employees who have to put up with this kind of tardiness and 'don't care attidute'.
Lazy colleagues generally are not very productive and do the least and bare minimum just to get by. They produce mediocre results and will be even hide behind other colleagues just to avoid any work. They are less productive and demotivated to achieve results or push up profits in any company. They just come to work to earn their bread and butter. These people also lack ambition and will not be the first people to advance their skills or attend any new courses.
These are just some signs that you are working with a lazy collegue. It is advsiable to identify these signs immediately, record any incidents with this collegue and report to your supervisor immediately before it becomes an issue that gets blown out of proportion.
