Is it right to Force Poeple to Wear Setables

From 3arf

Do seatbelts really save lives? Should the government be allowed to tell us whether or not we have to wear a seatbelt or not?

Many states have a law now that states that we all have to wear proper restraint while riding in a vehicle. Some say that they do this because seatbelts will keep us safe. There is quite a debate about that though, and there have been incidents where seatbelts have not saved lives. In fact, because a person was wearing a seatbelt is the reason why they got hurt worse or died, because they could not get out of the restraint. Sure, some will say that there is that new seatbelt cutter and glass breaker we can all buy and attach to the dash of our car, but what it you cannot reach it because your seatbelt has tightened up due to the impact of the crash. Then what do you do?

What if your car goes into water and your seatbelt will not unhook? Is it safe then? Sure, all these things are "what if's", as most things in life are, but the main point is, should a person have to pay a fine because he or she chose not to wear a seatbelt?

With all the new safety features in cars nowadays, are seatbelts really as safe as those newest items that have been added as safety gear? Take airbags, for instance. Most newer automobiles have at least 3-4 airbags installed in them now.  Are those safe? Do they help to save lives, or do they injure people, but save their lives? There is a lot of information here and on the Internet about seatbelts and the law. It is a very interesting and important topic.

How many states in the USA have this law set in place? How high are the fines when people are stopped for not wearing a seatbelt? Is there really any need for this expense to be incurred? Do we have the freedom to choose whether or not we want to wear safety restraints in a vehicle? What rights to Americans truly have? When it comes to the government and laws, surely the laws are decided and only voted upon according to those in office who have the authority to vote. Are they going by statistics of car crashes? In reality, how many people have had an accident and were wearing a seatbelt, and were okay afterward? How many were not wearing them, but they said they were?

It will be interesting to see how many agree with the laws or disagree. This topic is one that people could go on and on about all day long. There truly is a lot to seatbelts and the law.  Blessings to all!
