Do not work on a hot vehicle and you might have to raise it and place it safely on jack stands. Connect the O2 sensor socket to your socket wrench. Place the wrench over the oxygen sensor. Some sensors may have just the wires and not the adaptor. If the new unit has only wires, you can cut off the plug from the old unit and attach it to the new unit. Do not forget to read the installation instructions that may be listed on the box or inside the box. You can also obtain advice from the auto parts store representative about installing the sensor.

Install the O2 sensoralmost the same way you removed the sensor. Make sure it is tight and secure. Connect the electrical plug. Let the car down from the jack stands and reconnect the battery cables.
