How to Stick with my Goals
As the New Year comes sailing at us head on we feel a loss. A sense of failure for that which we did not accomplish the year before. A resignation of sorts for lost time. Yet also we feel a renewed opportunity. A vision for the future and yet we go grudgingly. No one wants to set themselves up for failure. And you haven't been able to stick to them before so what makes this year any different? It is easy and I will show you how.
1) Write yourself a business plan. The business of your life that is. Of course you don't have the spare time to spend on this task. But all through the year you have been planning for this without even knowing. You have been saving magazine articles and emails that you are meaning to get back to, bits of information that will change your life. You just need a little more time to focus on them. So design a plan, gather together your information, and web search your areas of interest. These are the details that you need to put in your plan. How am I going to get from here to there?
2)Break your goals down into smaller, bite-size pieces. Don't bite off more than you can chew at one time. If your goal is to maintain a healthy lifestyle, do not, and I repeat, do not, go gong ho armed with trash bags and adrenaline ridding your home of all harmful food, hygiene, and cleaning products. It will cost you a lot of time, a lot of energy, and guess what? A tiring trip to the store where you are going to spend a whole lot of money because you are going to have to eat sometime later today. The solution is to replace items one at a time as you run out. And you need this in your plan. You need to know what it is you are going to replace it with. Anytime something is displaced from your life you will feel inadequate until you fill it with something else. It needs to be affordable and convenient or you will just buy the first thing you see in total frustration.
3)Buy yourself a pretty and inexpensive purse-size photo album. On note cards print up your recipes for success. For example, mine is full of homemade recipes for natural cleaners. Yours may contain healthy, low-fat recipes for quick stops at the store. Anything pertaining to your personal goals will help pave the road to success.
4)Everyone enjoys talking about themselves. Brag yourself up to the hilt. Listen to others and have them listen to you. You'll quickly find others that are working on the same goals, a friendship will bloom, and a new you will shine.
