Halloween Crafts for Kids
Halloween themed crafts are the perfect way to get your wee spooky munchkins into a Halloween mood. Most children enjoy creating craft projects, and with their big imaginations, these Halloween themed bats, rats, and disguises are sure to keep them amused. They are bootifully spook-tacular.
Egg Carton Bats:
Supplies you will need are: a cardboard egg carton, a small pair of googly eyes for each bat, black paint, red marking pen, scissors, glue, and a dark colored string or ribbon.
Open your egg carton and look inside of the section where the eggs usually nestle. There are 5 raised bumps running down the center of this egg carton section with two smaller bumps to either side of these. Each of these sections are one bat, so there are actually 5 small bats nestled into the egg carton, and just waiting to be released. The large bump is the bat's head while the smaller bumps are the middle joint of their bat wings. The flaps hanging down on either side of the carton will become the lower section of your bat wings.
You can pre-paint your cardboard with a light spray of black paint as your first order of business or you can have each child paint their bat section once they are cut out. So go ahead and cut out your five bats.
The string will be used to dangle your bat so cut your length of string the appropriate length that you desire. Poke a tiny hole in the top of each bat head to run the string through, and then tie or, glue this string securely into place. If your bat is not already painted black then now is the time to paint him, attach his googly eyes, and draw a red vampire mouth on his face. It's that easy to create these cute little bats.
Lollipop Ghost:
These lovable little ghosts are a Halloween craft that is just so easy to create. The finished ghosts not only give your child a wonderful little spook to play with, but after the playing is done, they become a tasty sweet treat to eat. Supplies you will need are: round ball lollipops, black marking pen, black or orange ribbon, sheets of white tissue paper or paper towel.
Place a sheet of white paper over the head of the lollipop. Secure the ribbon on like a man's tie under the head of each ghost. With your black marking pen dab eyes onto each ghost, and that is it, your ghost is ready to play with.
Scary Q-Tip Skeleton:
This Halloween craft project is just so much fun for the wee ones. It allows their creativity to go wild as they build a fun bone skeleton onto a sheet of black construction paper. Supplies needed are: black construction paper, glue, white marking pen or white paint, and a number of Q-tips cut into a variety of different sizes.
Begin your skeleton by drawing or painting the skull onto the sheet of black construction paper. It is then up to each child to select the Q-tips that they will use to build their skeleton, and this is done, by gluing their Q-tips into place on the black construction paper. This project really stimulates creativity and it is quite surprising the number of different skeletons that suddenly spring to life within this simple Halloween craft project.
Hand Print Black Cat:
Easily create this delightful hand print black Halloween cat using two sheets of construction paper, a pair of googly eyes, three small pieces of yarn, a felt marker, and some glue. You will also need a medium size jar lid to use for tracing a circle.
Begin by having your child trace their hand, fingers spread wide, onto one piece of the black construction paper. The hand print will be the body of the cat and the fingers will be the legs and tail. On the other sheet of black construction paper use the jar lid to trace the shape of the circle. This will be your black cat's head so add two small triangle cat ears to the top of the circle. Then cut both of these shapes out.
Glue your cat head to the wrist section of your cut out hand print. Be sure to create a nice overlap so the head is securely attached. Glue on your googly eyes. Under the eyes draw a double sided hook shape for the cats mouth and glue your yarn across for her whiskers.
Creating crafts prior to Halloween helps to get the children into a fine tuned Halloween spirit. Playing with bats, ghosts, witches, and wizards gets them thinking about different costume ideas, and which one they will choose, as the same time it creates items for decorating the home. Those are a few pretty good reasons to pull out the paper, scissors, and glue.
