Graduation Baskets
There are many things to consider when making a graduation gift basket. These can be some of the best gifts to get as a graduate and to give to the graduate. In the past I have made a variety of different types of gift baskets for the graduate.
One example of a graduate gift basket is to think of what the graduate would need to make college like home that others might not get them. This would include things like a laundry basket (there is your basket), washable plates and bowls, washable silverware, washable cups, roll of paper towels or package of napkins, and dish soap. Some other ideas would include pencils, pens, and paper. Another idea to include would be candy, cookies, etc. Who doesn't like to have a late night study snack? You could also find other things by walking around the store that would work. You can get all of these at the dollar store, which then allows you to buy more items.
Another example for a graduate basket would be if you live close to the college they are going to. You could buy some items that have the school name on them. These items might include t-shirts, shorts, notepads, pencils and pens. You could also send money with the parents to go shopping with when orientation takes place.
Another great idea would be to make a basket that has washable plates, cups, and silverware, paper towels, etc. and then gift certificates to restaurants in the area of the college. If you do not know of any you could go online and do some research, as the student the gift is going to or even as the parents.
Another great example would be to get things for the room. You might get things like towels, sheets, pillows, etc. Maybe you get posters you think they would enjoy. You can ask the parents what the school colors are, what the school mascot is, etc. These are all great ways to help make the room feel homey.
Of course, you could always put some money in any of the baskets. This could have a note that says for things they may find they need for the room to make it a little better or for something fun with their new friends.
Knowing the graduate will help you know what best to get and put into their basket. If you get the right kind of basket they can use it to take the items with them to college.
