Fiesta Features Large Car Quality in a Small Car

From 3arf

The Ford Fiesta is one of the most successful small cars of all time – more than 15 million have been sold worldwide since the vehicle first went into production in 1976 - and the 2013 model looks set to continue its popularity. The new Fiesta is generously appointed with technological advances but is frugal when it comes to fuel consumption. This approach is all part of Ford’s plan to attract drivers who may be downsizing from larger cars in the light of higher fuel costs and difficult economic conditions.

The 2013 Fiesta offers advances such as Active City Stop, MyKey and SYNC with Emergency Assistance, while fuel economy of up to 85.6mpg is promised with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions below 100g/km.

The optional Active City Stop technology halts the Fiesta at speeds up to 10mph if a car in front of it brakes suddenly, thus helping to avoid collisions in urban traffic. Meanwhile, the MyKey technology enables parents to place restrictions on young drivers by limiting the car’s top speed and reducing the maximum volume of the sound system. The voice-activated SYNC connectivity system works with your phone for calls, texts and music – and the emergency assistance feature will telephone emergency services in the appropriate language for the country you are driving in.

A range of 1.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines are available on the 2103 Ford Fiesta, offering sub-100g/km CO2 emissions and fuel economy up to 65.7mpg. An ECOnetic Technology 1.6-litre diesel engine is expected to deliver 87g/km CO2 and 85.6mpg. Other options include 1.25-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines. There is also a high-performance Fiesta ST model with a 1.6-litre engine in the 2013 line-up.

A fuel-saving start-stop system, which shuts down the engine when the Fiesta is idling and restarts it when you need to move off, is available as a standard feature on certain models. Six-speed gearboxes are also offered. New chassis and suspension components have improved the ride quality and electronic power assisted steering contributes to the Fiesta’s dynamic and sporty handling.

The 2013 Fiesta has a bolder exterior – complementing the designs of other new Fords - and a reconfigured interior with new displays and materials for ease of use and comfort. The exterior design features a new front grille, a power-dome bonnet, laser-cut headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, and vibrant colours such as hot mustard and candy blue. To complete the look, you can have 17-inch alloy wheels.

In the cabin, the electric window switches, heated seat switches and door handles have been relocated, and there is a central display supporting the Fiesta’s integrated navigation system. Leather, partial leather, comfort fabric and sport fabric are available for the seats and trims. A full leather-rim steering wheel is also offered. The door pockets are larger and more practical, while a central armrest provides extra storage. The boot/trunk has a concealed load space and an adjustable floor height to simplify the loading and unloading of heavy items.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta, featuring large car quality in a small car, starts from £9,795 on-the-road in the UK.
