A Review of the 2014 Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta has been updated for 2014. The new Fiesta sports some new features to its body and a new and improved interior. Technical improvements have enhanced Ford's chances of reinvigorating its reputation in the subcompact car market. The Ford Fiesta has lost ground to it's Japanese rivals over the last number of years who have been consistently adding new technological features to their models.
Included in the engine line-up for the Fiesta is the new 1.0 Liter three cylinder 123HP turbo. There is also a turbocharged 1.6 liter 190HP ST version with an impressive six speed manual gearbox included for the 2014 Fiesta line-up. The standard 1.6 Liter outputs 120HP and produces a fuel economy of around 30 MPG in a city while driving on a highway the Fiesta will average around 40 MPG.
The new 2014 Fiesta has an updated front grille to add to its sleek looks. The subcompact Ford incorporates a grille design that is not dissimilar to that found in an Aston Martin DB9. Together with the attractive new grille the headlights are also revamped for the 2014 model. Inside, the Fiesta's interior is a more refined version of what was previously installed in the subcompact Ford rather than redesigned. Adjustments have been made to the Fiesta's Centre stack for the new touch screen centre console. The 2014 touch option is known as MyFord Touch. This infotainment system can be found in the larger Ford models, which was previously unavailable for the Fiesta. The added extra however has some draw backs such as its positioning and the punitive size of the touch screen which are not user friendly for the driver or the passenger. The infotainment system is located at the top of the centre stack which is reachable beyond arms length.
Ford has addressed the transmission problems that have existed in the past model of Fiesta. The Transmission has received criticism in the past for having being slow and unresponsive to gear changes. The new 2014 transmission is more polished and Ford have ironed out the past discrepancies with the Fiesta. The powershift model feels slower with regard to throttle response compare to the manual gearshift which is sharper. As a whole the driving Characteristics are similar to the previous model. The chassis is quite solid with a firm suspension that corners well. The Fiesta's steering is responsive with a positive feel providing a confident handling performance.
Prices for the sedan model of the Ford Fiesta will start at around $14,000. The Hatchback on the other hand will be priced at $14,600 for the basic model. More information on pricing and colour schemes for the Ford Fiesta can be found on Ford's official pagewww.Ford.com.
Overall the refinements for the 2014 Fiesta have lead to important improvements to Ford's standing in relation to its competitors in the subcompact car market. Improvements to past flaws will definitely improve Ford's reputation and indeed boost sales. The new grille on the 2014 Ford Fiesta is an eye-catching addition. Together with a good fuel economy and a small carbon footprint the 2014 Ford Fiesta is quite a good buy at a relatively affordable price.
