Christmas 2007 Video Game Recommendations for Teen Girls
Girls can like video games as much as boys but often they aren't into the same sort of genre (although there are a few!). Below are all the games for the most popular consoles that your gamer teen girl will love under the Christmas tree this year.
NINTENDO DS
1)Nintendogs ($27.99 from Amazon.com/25 from Amazon.co.uk)A highly acclaimed game that gives your teen girl the opportunity to have a pet dog without the hassles that come with a real one! It's got a wide range of activities and breeds and is the kind of game that'll keep your girl very happy over Christmas - and hopefully for the rest of the year!
2)Animal Crossing: Wild World ($30 from Amazon.com/25 from Amazon.co.uk)A simple yet popular scenario - a village to explore and customise. Not the game for a girl who likes lots and lots to happen every day - it's a slow game and not much happens in the way of action. You can customise wallpapers, buy objects and visit other villages.
3)Cooking Mama ($20 from Amazon.com/17 from Amazon.co.uk)A highly interactive game that makes full use of the stylus and microphone with cutting, kneading and frying up delicious dishes. Obviously a good choice for a budding cook! Can be repetitive but some will love this style of game.
NINTENDO Wii
1)Wii SportsThis game usually comes with a Wii console - I think its a great unisex game that will get everyone on their feet and active rather than sitting around! It's infectious watching so everyone will want to join in and it becomes hilarious fun. A good range of games too.
2)Guitar Hero (with special controller - $90 from Amazon.com/60 from Amazon.co.uk)An original game that will again get your teen up and dancing around - especially good for any music fans! It's pricey with the special controller but it's a game that will never lose its popularity in your family.
3)MySims ($50 from Amazon.com/30 from Amazon.co.uk)Similar to Animal Crossing but with a broader range of things to do. Like the original and great Sims series, but with completely different graphics in line with the Mii's. Again if your girl finds games that require a bit of 'boring' building and customising first then avoid this game.
PC
Just a main paragraph for the PC - there are so many cute PC games about for ridiculously cheap prices - I found a copy of Theme Hospital (brand new) in a gaming shop for 2/$4 the other day. They're a few years older and don't have the same graphics but are highly addictive all the same. These games include: Theme Hospital, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, 'Any' Tycoon(!), The Sims 1/2, Tomb Raider, Law and Order
XBOX 360
1)Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga ($50 from Amazon.com/30 from Amazon.co.uk)This is a great fun game that isn't too difficult but still provides a reasonable challenge, and will take several (underexaggeration!) hours to complete due to its breath! It's suitable for all ages too and obviously great for any Star Wars fans!
2)Rayman Raving Rabbids ($27 from Amazon.com/17 from Amazon.co.uk)A great party game that doesn't take itself too literally. It has loads of mini games and the Rabbids are so cute! The mini games have a large range of skills and its a game that the whole family can get involved in.
Obviously I am being biased and assuming that girls will like 'girly', non-fighting games. This isn't always the case, so ask your teen what she likes best or have a look at her pre-existing game collection to get a good idea of what she likes. Good luck!
