Chevrolet Camaro 2010
Chevrolet, an American company with a proud history, have undergone a renovation of sorts lately and it shows in their new vehicles. From the iconic Camaro to the beastly Corvette, Chevrolet have rejoined the their rivals at the top of the car market. Handling has been tightened and more care has been put into the manufacturing, meaning that Chevrolet is a brand to be proud of once more. The new 2010 Camaro is under the spotlight in this review and right from the start the exterior must be mentioned. It looks mean and intimidating, and there is more than a hint of Mustang in it, which is no bad thing. The blocky, angular front end combines with the smoother and curvier rear end perfectly and helps to give the vehicle that perfect muscle car look. The interior is sharp, smart and modern with plenty of modern amenities. The black and silver finish which is so popular these days works very well. There are plenty of angles inside as well as out to add to the muscle car feel. The whole look of the Camaro is therefore very well conceived and Chevrolet should be congratulated for it.The Camaro only comes as a coupe, which is slightly disappointing as this car would look great as a convertible. There are four seats to occupy inside, but as with most coupes, the back two are not fantastic. Transmission comes in the form or a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, which is pretty basic.Under the hood of the redesigned Camaro sits a 3.6 litre V-6 capable of around 305bhp. This is a decent engine and produces almost as much power as the old V-8 that Chevrolet used, whilst drinking far less in fuel. In fact, it is estimated that this Camaro can get around 30mpg, which is quite remarkable for a muscle car coupe. There are other options for those who require a little more speed and power in their Camaro and these come in the form of two, 6.2 litre V-8 engines that can produce either around 400bhp or 425bhp. These engines should satisfy most speed freaks. With rear-wheel drive standard across all models, the Chevrolet has truly entered the modern era. There are also plenty of modern safety features that come as standard including; ABS, front, side and side curtain airbags, along with both traction and stability control. The price of the Camaro is also very reasonable and puts it in direct rivalry with its old nemesis, the Ford Mustang. Starting at around $25,000 and going up to as high as $35,000, the Chevrolet is remarkably affordable and now makes the muscle car fanatic’s decision much more difficult. The Camaro is a good-looking car, no doubt. It looks mean and muscular and sits alongside its rivals with pride. The interior has also had a much needed shake up and Chevrolet can be proud of their efforts inside as well as out. The car drives well, is relatively economic with its fuel and provides plenty of speed and power for a relatively affordable price. The Mustang may be ahead only slightly, but the Camaro is hot on its heels.
