Can you really get Rich on Ebay
For most eBay customers that buy and sell products on this particular site, will certainly not be able to get rich either quickly or at any time soon. I think that to get really rich would require listing and advertising a lot of products on the site where the purchase price is far lower than the selling price. In practice to do this regularly is quite difficult for most product markets. People would need to have contacts where they can obtain top quality goods at a fraction of the retail price. Most if not all products are already discounted by high street retailers heavily during the month of January already making the need to use e Bay very limited. The profit margin per transaction would have to outstrip the costs of receiving money through Paypal and other methods. A 1 profit made on e Bay transaction would have to be made many thousands of times over and over before the account holder becomes even reasonably well off.
People certainly looking to make quick money in terms of profit are likely to be disappointed. The areas where money can be made would include gem stones, gold and silver bullion and antique items. These certainly are obvious areas where a good level of interest can be achieved especially depending on if the market of such items is in place. Obvious strategies would involve finding cheap items at car boot sales and selling them on e Bay for perhaps a reasonably good profit. e Bay does charge for listing fees as well as a final value sum which all adds up in the long run. Someone with sales generated of say 80 for say 10 listings can find that if their own profit margin including the price paid for the goods is less than 10 then the person is likely to have suffered an overall transaction loss by advertising and selling goods on e Bay.
People also have the choice of returning goods on e Bay and obtaining refunds is less of a hassle than before which also increases the risk involved of using e Bay to sell goods. Transaction that was good last week might mean that money has been used for additional stock purchases, can end up in customers asking for their money back because they were not happy with the goods received.
In areas where the level of profit is likely to be substantial in product areas such as gemstones, jewels, bullion, and where people can buy goods directly from wholesalers and sell them for a good return elsewhere, other than these situations it certainly would not pay to use e Bay to do business on-line.
