Becoming a Nurse
Deciding to take on a profession is a very serious decision that should not be taken lightly. You will spend countless hours in education and tons of your own money just to get to that dream career. There is a profession in particular that is on the rise in around the world and will have plenty of jobs available for years to come. This career path is Nursing. Becoming a Registered Nurse is hard, believe me I know, but it can be one of the most rewarding things a person may be able to do. Being able to help someone gain back health that had lost or help the family coping with a loss brings joy to my life each and every day. There is also financial security as well as job security as well.
However, these benefits do come with a responsibility. It is the responsibility of the nurse to make sure that the patient they are taking care of is out of harms way and do everything in your control and power to not let others cause harm to that person. This is a big job and takes a person that is willing to do what is right rather than what is popular. Not abiding by the rules that have been set forth can also lead to legal action being taken against yourself. Nurses have lost their license to practice over little things that could have easily been prevented.
If being diligent in your work and taking pride in taking care of others sounds like where you would like to be, then there are some options to take into consideration to make that a reality. Nursing schools are all over the country in all types of settings. The best part about becoming a nurse is that you will enter a profession with only an Associates Degree in Nursing. Most professionals have Master's degrees in other fields. Nurses also get compensated very well with the national average being around $60,000 a year. This will vary depending which area of specialty is chosen. There are also BSN programs at universities across the country as well. One thing to keep in mind when choosing a nursing school is whether the credits are going to be able to transfer to a higher education level program if you choose to do so later on.
So I challenge anyone that is thinking of going into the nursing profession to observe someone in dire need of care. Make sure that you are willing to stand by them when they are at their worst and help them through any problem.
