Bad Employyes Raise Bad Students – No

Employee reviews incentivize employees to do their best work. Reviews offer the employee a chance to improve on areas of opportunity as well as highlight their strengths. Many people do not understand where their paycheck comes from and they feel as if  “their job” owes them a paycheck for simply punching a clock. Employee reviews are a fair way to remind the employee of the expectations of the job they are privileged to have. The company does not owe an employee anything unless they are a productive member of the organization.

Some employees like to be praised, but do not like to be scrutinized. Think about how you would feel if you constantly went that extra mile, did good work, always showed up on time, never called in sick, and then worked right next to someone who constantly did the opposite. Without employee performance reviews, your employer may never know the difference between you and the person sitting next to you. Lack of employee performance reviews creates a lowered level of expectation for all employees and reduces productivity company-wide. The result of this is layoffs or consolidation done at random; because your employer has nothing to measure your work versus the work of your coworker.

If all employees did what they were supposed to be doing at all times, employee reviews would not be necessary. As this is not the case, employee reviews also serve as liability protection for the company. Professional system workers have a knack for being able to exploit perceived loopholes in the company policy, code of conduct, and avoid compliance with expected levels of performance. Without proper documentation, these are the employees that claim that they were never warned or informed of the rules. The result could end up becoming a wrongful termination lawsuit that costs the company even more time and money. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If these people spent as much time doing their job as they spend figuring out ways to avoid work, employee reviews would not be necessary.

Ignorant kids become ignorant adults. Employees that are parents also set an example for their children. Some people may instill a good work ethic in their kids, and some may be setting an example of the different ways that they can cheat the system. The effect of this can be seen in many public school systems that have to document various incidents that can lead to a child’s punishment or suspension with regard to the school system. Accordingly, these are typically the children of parents that are the first to say that they are unaware of why their child was suspended or reprimanded at school until it is too late. This is why documentation of all misbehavior at a child’s school must also be documented and made known to the parent.
