Are Film Industry Jobs really as Glamorous as they Sound
Picture this: You are the popular star of the big screen. You are making millions and have a schedule full of functions to attend. Your movies are hitting record numbers of sells and turnouts. Your career is secure and growing bigger by the minute. Your life never encompasses a dull moment. You are admired by millions both young and old. You have the best of it all great treatment, recognition where ever you go, and all of your friends are top A listers. How great the joy of being famous. Gasp! but wait, you mean that your life is not all full of greatness? Please do explain.
Every time you walk out the door there are hundreds of eyes watching and many even have cameras attempting to catch that million dollar shot. The fight you had with your husband is pasted on the front of every tabloid in America. There are now rumors that you are having a baby by your husbands best friend because the two of you were caught having lunch while your husband was out of town. What ever happened to a few moments of privacy? Then you remember you gave all that up to become the "big" star success.
You decide it is time to leave all the glamor behind for a while. You grab the family and your bags as you board a plane to Hawaii for a long needed vacation. The plane sets down and as your feet hit the shore there are hundreds of photographers wondering why you have chosen this destination. Are you giving up your career? Are you trying to amend family bonds to avoid the divorce rumors that began after the fight with your husband and dinner with his best friend? Is it true that you are thinking of giving up your career? What ever happened to vacations? Alone time with your family to bond and enjoy each others company! Yes, you gave that up to for "big" star success.
If you gain a pound the picture a nosy critic snapped is pasted on every magazine cover with the caption "BIG" star has weight on the rise. If you drop a few pounds the caption reads "big" star fading due to an eating disorder. Even the meals you had for the past two days are listed in the article. Goodness! Can you not even enjoy a meal alone anymore? No, you gave that up also when you became a "big" star.
You see the lives that are lead by stars are really not as glamorous as many people think. It is true they want for nothing and live in mansions in Beverly Hills but the cost they endure is a high price to pay. Secrets are never concealed because some nosy paparazzi standing nearby catches wind of it and blows it all over the United States. Rumors spread like wild fire and often hold little or no truth at all. You are in front of a camera 365 days a year with or without your consent. Your whole life both professional and personal encompass many pages of magazines, articles of newspapers, and even hours of television programs across the world. The line is also being crossed as the media drags your family into their horrid stories.
Now you see the real truth. Stars are forced to take on enormous amounts of unwanted baggage for their career. Many stars are not as nice and pretty as the pictures paint them. Deep down they regret their loss of privacy and family life. Many times this leads to the star being angry and often being mean and manipulative to those that are there to help them such as Nanny's, maids, makeup artists, etc. The real glamor that shines on the pages of those magazines and on that TV screen are as fake as the smile that the star often wears. The truth has been exposed about real stardom time and time again as you watch stars struggle to keep a little of their own life intact and to themselves. It is by far not a glamorous profession.
