ALT-7 Re Gifters what to do when You’re Caught in the Act
Theres two cases where a re-gifter gets caught:
First is when you re-gift a gift to someone other then the person who gave it to you. When you do this and are caught, getting out of it depends on if the person knows the original gift giver or the original gift giver is present at the time of the discovery. If these two conditions don't exist and the person questions the gift just say something along the lines of: 'Well perhaps it was someone else you know who got a gift like this before" or "Yes I did get this same product last year, I thought it was so wonderful you might like it!". See the second one isn't even a lie really.
The second and worst case is when you give the gift back as a gift to the person you originally received it from in the first place. There really isn't much to do to get out of this one; when giving a lot of gifts double check yourself to make sure you don't re-gift to the original giver. IF you do get caught doing this the best advice I can give is saying something like "Really? You gave me this last year? Well then thats why I thought it would make such a great gift, the one you gave me is amazing." or "I didn't realize until after I bought it for you" or "Actually you gave me a similar product, your right; but this one is different (name some reasons) and is perfect I thought for you (give more reasons)." Of course if there is any unique identifying marks on the product that prove for a fact it was given to you as a gift you are pretty much out of luck. If they can't prove they gave it to you , then they can suspect re-gifting all they want but they can't get you for it!
