ALT-3 Where to Submit Reviews to Earn a Monthly Income

From 3arf

I've been writing product reviews for online price comparison sites for some three years now and have tried most of them at one point or another. I won't waste my time listing them all simply because this article is about finding review sites that offer a monthly income; those that pay 2p a month if you're lucky don't really qualify in my book as a source of income! The following two sites are the only sites I recommend as offering a reasonable and reliable monthly return for your time and talent:

1) Helium.com is the first on my list, especially if you're able to regularly upload new titles to earn the empty title bonus and write in catagories that qualify for upfront payments. Royalties are a matter of cents a day as a general rule, but empty title bonuses and upfront payments make writing for this site a very productive use of your spare time for qualifying writers. You can earn $1 for every empty title that you fill, even if you've suggested that empty title yourself. This is dependant on you having at least one rating star. Upfront payments are also paid to those with writing stars, with a payment of $1.50 per article going to those who have three writings stars. A three star writer with one rating star can earn $2.50 for every qualifying article to an empty title, which is pretty generous in my experience.

2) Dooyoo.co.uk is the next on my list. Although they're an English site, there's nothing to stop those from other countries signing up to review products that are available in their own countries, as many existing members have done. Games consoles, books, DVDs and CDs are often multi-national items that are available in a range of countries. Dooyoo pay 50p for every review you write that contains at least 300 words. They then pay an additional 1.5p every time a member reads your review. On average I receive 1gbp per review from the upfront payment and the additional revenue received from people reading and rating my review. If a review is especially good, a crown is awarded which equates to 1.50gbp. Payments can be requested via cheque once you accumulate a balance of 50gpb or more, and via Amazon vouchers when you have accumulated 20gpb or more. Payment via cheque can sometimes be a lengthly process, but I've never had to wait more than a week to receive payment by Amazon voucher.

I've tried a variety of sites over the years, with many coming and going within a matter of months of starting up. Compared By Us was quick to disappear after it realised it couldn't cope with the financial commitments it had made to it's members. BView and Trusted Places were great for those who signed up initially and reviewed all of their local businesses, but quickly you will find that you run out of things to write about on these sites. Ciao is popular with many review writers, but I've had nothing but bad experiences with them. Initially I received a regular income from them, but I quickly discovered that payments weren't tracking, the customer services was non-existant, and I eventually was cheated out of nearly 100gpb by them.

When in doubt, stick with what you know. Put the majority of your efforts into sites that you know will pay out regularly and reliably. If you get any spare time on your hands, by all means use a search engine to find the latest and greatest paying review sites of the minute. But be aware that investing too much time and effort into them could result in disappointment.
