ALT-2 Skills Qualified Employees need in the 21st Century

From 3arf

If you are going to be a successful employee in the 21st century, there are some unique skills that you are going to need that you might not have needed in the past. The business world has changed a lot in the past few years, and the recent economy doesn't make things any easier when you are looking for a job.

What kinds of skills are you going to need if you are going to be adept at your job? The biggest skill that you are going to need is the ability to work in a team, or on your own, depending on what your employer needs.  This flexibility is crucial when it comes to finding a job because some companies don't have the manpower to help you do your job, or some companies might need solid teamwork to do anything.

This seems like something that most people have mastered to some degree, but you have to be computer savvy to an extent. Basic use of the Internet is going to be required to do your job. Knowing how to do something as simple as a Google search is a skill that can help you do your job better and find information that might not be readily available to you.

Being a good employee in the 21st century means that you have to have a wider availability. The days of a 9-5 workday and a 40 hour workweek are all but gone. You might have some companies that will offer you more than 40, but usually you will either get less than 40, or will need two jobs to reach financial security depending on your age and career path.

A qualified employee also needs more education than ever before. A good employee will have a college degree at minimum, but will also be willing to go back to school for more training and education. Volunteer work is also something a good employee might have as a means of gaining skills and improving your resume.

The 21st century business world is much different than it used to be. You need to have good technical skills, and you need to be able to work with people at anytime and anyplace. If you want a 9-5, you are going to have to look long and hard to find it, so be ready to do almost anything asked of you to stay employed these days.
