ALT-2 Chevrolet Impala

From 3arf

The concept car of General Motors corporation was the prestigious Chevy Impala, a full size car that made it's appearance in the years between 1958 to 1965. The car built and designed by the late Ed Cole. Ed Cole was the Chief Engineer for GM at that time. He built one of the best selling cars of these times, "The Chevy Impala"! During the Impala's years as being the most expensive car, it broke many sales records which still stand today. With over one million units sold, it will be a hard record to beat by any automotive company.

The Impala set the way for GM's next luxury car the Caprice. Priced just below the Caprices sales window, it still remained a popular car even with the lower priced cars of the Biscayne and Bel Air. The newer version of the Chevy Impala is 8th on the best seller list of new cars and ranks 5th in over all sales. The more sportier Impala comes in two to four door models with the new overdrive set up. The set up in the new Impala starts with the six cylinder engine. When driving around town the electronic chip that is installed into the enginescomputer, switches the cars motor over to run on four cylinders instead of all six, saving you money at the gas pump by giving you extra mileage and power.

The Chevy Impala has front wheel drive and it handles responsively without the loss of power. It is quick and agile and with its technology built in, will help your wallet survive the strain of gas consumption. GM has high hopes for the new Chevy Impala and has started their campaign for the most fuel efficient sedan of it's class of car. GM is counting on the Chevy Impala to increase their sales in a flailing market. While GM makes the transition to going green with their trucks and cars, the Impala will have to carry the GM brand of cars in to the future.

In the earlier years of the Impala, the interiors of the car were lined with leather type padded panels to the doors and seats. Chrome outlined the dash components and the interiors came in colors of red and black. The Bench seats were comfortable, with plenty of leg room and could sit six people. The trunk was enormous with the spare tire hidden from view in a sunken compartment.

The newer version of the Chevy impala, offers the same comfort and space but with a fewer sitting capacity, because of it's size. Still the new Chevy Impala brings much to the table for the drivers experience. Sleek and more sporty looking, the new Chevy Impala competes well with other compact sedans of the day.

Competition between the auto makers will be the driving factor in the success of many new concept cars. The Chevy Impala is already able to receive the hybrid stamp in future models. Many other automakers are still struggling with up grades to the new vehicles they are bringing to the drawing table. The Impala is going through it's first test now on how to be sporty looking, yet a cost efficient way to save you gas at the gas pump.
