ALT-1 What to Wear on an Audition

From 3arf

Auditions can be frightening enough, but the point is to shock them with your talents...NOT YOUR WARDROBE. When going on auditions, your choice of clothing should be simple yet reflect your personal style. The judges want to see you talent shine through, so I would recommend a basic shirt with minimal jewelry and some nice jeans. Although, the outfit is simple is still need some wow factor. I would suggest an outfit that shows your figure well enough, but not too well that muffin-top is a factor. Muffin top is the fat that bulges over the sides, back or front of your jeans; similar to a muffin. Your clothing choice should be something that you feel comfortable in as well. I have gone to auditions myself where women had cleavage spillage and men wore too baggy clothes. This looks sloppy and unprepared. Know that you are being judged on your TALENT, not your cup size.Shoes are another important factor. While some auditions may have seating, don't bank on every audition to have available seating. More than likely, you will be standing for a very long period of time, so were shoes that are comfy. Remember, on auditions less is more. Please don't on pile on the makeup. The judges want to see your natural beauty and can imagine what makeup would like on you. A light foundation with a little lipstick or lip gloss goes a long way. Of course your hair has to look good, but not "Cousin It" good. Avoid looking like a giant hairball on any audition. A nice ponytail is always classic hairdo, or a headband will nicely hold back cascading hair. Also, if the audition is for a period film or play, that takes place during a certain time period, it is a plus when you can wear something that resembles that time era. I once went on an audition for a film that took place in the 70's, and even though I didn't have any cool 70's clothing I wore my hair in an afro puff. Not only will you look cute and stand out, but you will show the judges that you are prepared to go the extra mile. So remember, whether you have those jeans that make your rear look great or a necklace that you consider lucky, by all means wear it! So break a leg.....and look FAB doing it!
