We spend approximately forty hours of our waking hours per week at the workplace. Coworkers are like second family. These hours of frequent interaction with coworkers with working on a common project,and sharing interests, if one is not careful, this can evolve into a co-dependent or emotional relationship. And, ultimately leads to a physical affair. The statistics revealed that affairs in the workplace have considerably increased with both men and women.

It is imperative that couples are cognizant of this practice in the workplace. They have to bear in mind that no union is completely foolproof. Even a couple who is deeply in love can be vulnerable to stray, if the relationship is not nourished. In order to prevent coworkers from having an affair, it is vital that workers adopt the following tips:-

KEEP THE COMMUNICATION LINE OPEN WITH SPOUSE

No relationship is perfect. Therefore, if you are not happy with something in your relationship, do let your spouse know. Avoid airing your intimate and personal problems to a coworker of the opposite sex as this frequently leads to emotional attachment.

KEEP YOUR RELATIONSHIP FRESH

Continue to have dates with the one you love. It will keep the relationship fresh and build a stronger bond with your mate. Do find the time to have a special lunch date once in a while. Afterall, in the beginning, you enjoyed this.

DEVELOP BOUNDARIES IN WORKPLACE

Keep conversation directed to the project you are working on with the opposite sex. Avoid the Happy Hour social unless you have other coworkers present. Even then, practice control in regards to alcohol consumption as this often times leads to temptations.

Affairs in the workplace can also have great impact on coworkers as well especially if there is an inequitity of power. If a coworker has an affair with the boss; this affects everyone within the office environment. In the beginning, the worker (in this case subordinate) possibly was hired based on skills, experiences and qualifications. If this worker is later promoted for stalwart work, this advancement could become questionable by fellow coworkers because of the affair with the boss.

In additiion, if there is a personal conflict between the two coworkers; this often times gets filtered in the workplace. As a result, it may affect production which unfortunately could lead to termination. When it comes to affairs with coworkers in the workplace, most times, there are no winners. This practice ultimately fracture relationships and careers. Recently, everyone was amazed when popular late night Host, David Letterman confessed to having several affairs with women within the workplace.

It is obvious that control is the operative word when it comes to affairs in the workplace. Do keep private and personal affairs at home with your loved ones.
