Working for West can be a great stepping stone to boost your resume for another work at home opportunity you wish to obtain. West is not as difficult to get a position with as many of the other work from home companies that I have applied to and/or worked with. They do require you to cover a large load of training material in a short 10 day period for each certification you apply for.
If you like the company and wish to stay with them, you must stay actively working on a weekly basis in order to stay up to date with certifications and to continue to increase your chances of obtaining better hours. When you first start, you must be ready to take the hours that no one else really wants to work until you get some time under your belt. Also, the more certifications you obtain, the more hours you will have offered to you to work. You must wait a certain amount of time, usually about two weeks, between the time you train for one certification and when you can start to train for the next one.
Working with West, just like a lot of other work at home positions, does require you to have certain equipment and certain background settings in your home office. Obviously, when you are on the telephone speaking with one of their customers you can not have children screaming, tv's and radio's blasting, etc. This is one complaint I hear from those starting in a work at home position for the first time but you must remember this is your job just the same as going to an office setting and working there. So no, they are not going to want to have their customers hearing these things in the background.
I would most highly suggest West to persons who enjoy working with the public and have a warm, friendly and upbeat personality as they will thrive in the type of work that West offers. Although, word of warning to the new person, when you are working the later hours of the nights especially, be prepared for the occassion hang up or possible "drunk" who calls for kicks and giggles (or whatever their reason is).
