ALT-1 Website Reviews Jobfoxcom
Of all the job-search websites I have worked with, I have to say that my least favorite is Jobfox.com. The process to get started was far more laborious than any other site I have visited, with no way to preview the site or get some basic information without revealing my whole life, and in the end, the listings were minimal and most were untenable. The site offers something no other site does, which is an extensive Match.com type profile which is supposed to coordinate the job offers to the applicants. Because of that set-up, it does require an extensive amount of information to even begin the process.
To accomplish this you are mandated to enter every personal detail in your work history. Uploading your resume does save a step, but the formatting of your uploaded resume is strange and doesn't match (my upload resume is plain text format to avoid just this kind of problem) and I quiver to think what the employers are seeing when they check my file. So to get around this, I tried to manually enter my information on the very detailed questionnaire. After nearly half an hour entering details, the mish-mash I got as a summary was uglier than the conversion of the uploaded resume! I assume that what they were forwarding to employers could not be the same as what I was seeing (otherwise why would employers use them at all?), but if it's not visually appealing to the applicant, I can't see sending it out to hiring managers.
After all that, Jobfox did go out and get some potential matches, whose quality was not terrible, but there were very few listings, and several some distance away. I live in Southern California, and there are plenty of local companies to work for, but several listings were hours away, and there were less than a dozen listings referenced, where an equivalent search on Monster.com usually turns out over a hundred. I will admit that I didn't see any apparent scam sites or "investment required" listings, so I do admire the fact that there appears to be a listing editor (something sadly lacking on the big sites). But this simply isn't enough to recommend the site.
A lot of my time was wasted for minimal results. I cannot in good conscience recommend adding this site to any job-seekers stable. Stick with other easier sites with better results where you can get up and running quickly and get lots of quality results.
