ALT-1 Top 10 Common Problems in Unsafe Autos
Common problems in unsafe auto's come from two sources, car manufacturers and auto repair center's. Some vehicles leave the manufactures with unsafe features, which are sometimes 'recalled'. Other vehicles start out just fine, but improperly done repairs can make them unsafe.
This said, here are the top 10 problems that have rendered vehicles unsafe.1. Exploding gas tanks, due to improper placing. The Pinto car of the 1970's had its gas tank at the rear of the car. It was prone to exploding and causing death to the drivers and passengers. The car is no longer made, and several large lawsuits were settled.
2. Spontaneous opening back doors in minivans. The back door has opened while on the highway, and the backseats have been shown to fly out. Several deaths of infants have been documented. This seems to occur when the minivan picks up speed.
3. Air bags that spontaneously open. Both highway accidents and deaths have beenattributed to manufacturers defects in airbags, which causes them to open spontaneously.
4. Airbags and children. Children have been injured and smothered to death by airbags being placed at the wrong height. This is primarily due to human error. Airbags can be customized to accomodate childrens' height.
5. Exploding windshields. If an windshield is fitted improperly, either when it leaves the manufacturer, or is refitted, it can and will explode when a vehicle reaches speed.
6. Tires. Do not ever use re-treads or re-done tires. The rubber can literally pull away from the tire causing serious accidents. Also included in this category are mixed tires. Having two winter and two summer tires on the same vehicle will not allow it to drive properly and will cause accidents.
7. Corroded wires. Rotten wires on your starter and alternator can cause the vehicle to come to an unexpected halt and cause accidents.
8. Cracks in the axle's. Leaving cracks in the axle, can lead to breaks in the axel's which leads to parts of your vehicle separating, and accidents.
9. Ball Joints. If they don't turn properly your vehicle will not drive properly and you may lose control of your vehicle. Keep ball joints reguarly inspected.
10. Broken Headlights. Having a broken headlight, or the wrong wattage of bulb, will severley affect how well you can see while driving.
Of course the most common problem that makes an auto unsafe, are drunk human drivers behind the wheel.Drive safe, and drive responsibly.
