Housewives have an endless job. It is the most rewarding and at the same time, the most unappreciated job on earth. Most will say being a housewife is not a job. Those that have had the pleasure of managing their family and home will say that it is the most laborious job they kept.

Up in the morning to begin the day, the same day that you had yesterday. On the job all day, taking pride in your home, cleaning and fixing everything that the ones you love left behind. What a repetitious job housewives have, always having to redo their tasks. Their family taking for granted how easy they have it, coming home to a home, that needs no cleaning.

Imagine going to a job were you have fulfilled all your tasks to the best of your ability, working long hours making sure everything is done to your bosses satisfaction. Imagine your boss going behind you and destroying everything that you have worked so hard on. Many would depart from a job such as that, after collecting their pay for the day. Who in their right mind would continue to stay employed in conditions such as these?

When people ask a housewife, "Don't you get bored?" I have to laugh. Bored? Does a housewife have time to be bored with the sink full of dishes, loads upon loads of dirty laundry that needs to be washed, bathrooms that smell of pee, and floors to be swept? Bored, would not be the word I would use. Weary does come to mind though. Worn out in strength, freshness and patience is how Webster defines the word.

Housewives tire of the working class saying that "they must have it made, getting to stay at home watching soap opera's all day." Housewives have been thought less of than the working class, for not bringing home a paycheck and is that fair? No, it is not. Housewives are cooks and maids they are managers, accountants, interior designers, and in charge of maintenance. Then if you throw in a child or two, housewives become childcare providers, nurses, counselors, teachers, and chauffeurs. Housewives never leave their jobs, because they are continuously on call. The list of a housewives duties is countless. The job comes without a paycheck, but one can not estimate the worth of a housewife.

So why do they continue to do it, you may ask? Because their paychecks come in many forms, things that money can not buy. Being there when the family comes home. Knowing that they work hard all day, not for a boss, but for a family, that loves them. Although it is nice to have some take home pay, I have been there and working free, for those that love me, is all I need.

Working folks, please do not take offense. I know your job is hard too. Housewives just need strengthening; they never get the credit that they are well deserved. Housewives are valuable to society. I should know my mother, my sister, my aunts, and my grandmother and her mother and so forth were all housewives. Being a housewife is a chosen work that we pride ourselves on. Our husbands are proud of us too, thank goodness! As long as that is the case, we over look those that assume our jobs are worthless. We know better.
