2011 f 250

From 3arf

The new 2011 Ford F-250 has come alive.  Ford Motor Company will introduce the new Super Duty in early spring to it's showrooms.  There is much anticipation with the new truck.  Ford has had several problems with the previous two diesel engines, the 6.0 Power Stroke and the 6.4 Power Stroke.  The comments coming from representatives at Ford Motor Company have been in the likes of it being "indestructible".  The new F-250 will have quite a few changes.  The powertrain has changed as well as a new face lift and a few gadgets to add to productivity.  The bases are loaded, it's the bottom of the ninth inning, will the 2011 F-250 be a grand slam or will Ford strikeout?

Powertrain

The new powertrain consists of a new diesel engine, new gas engine, and a new transmission.  In this class the diesel engine is the most popular choice, so after two not so hot engines Ford has to step up on this one.  The new diesel is a 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 that is all Ford built and designed.  This new engine is said to produce way more horsepower and torque while getting better fuel economy.  The new gas engine replaces the outdated 5.4L V8, it is now a 6.2L V8 giving the base engine more horsepower and torque.  Another all new addition to the powertrain is the 6 speed automatic TorqShift transmission.  Ford has had to redesign the transmission since the new engines would be producing more power.  They gave it bigger gears and an advanced lubrication system which should handle the power nicely.  The new transmission will also have an engine brake when mated to the 6.7L diesel and a SelectShift function to manually select gears.

All New Design

The F-250 has taken on a new front end design.  The grill has a more aggressive bold new look and the power dome hood keep the "Built Ford Tough" stance in plain sight.  The array of configurations remain outstanding.  Since Super Duty Pickups can have several different applications, Ford allows you many different wheelbases, cab, engine, and box configurations that fit your needs.  As far as the interior goes the XL/XLT gets a much needed darker gray seat based on input from the customers.  The Lariat and King Ranch get a make over as well with the Lariat getting new distressed leather inserts and the King Ranch getting updated logos and black surroundings.

Technology

If you buy your truck for work or play, it has something for you.  Ford gives you Sync with traffic, directions, and information services, MyKey (a tailored key that puts boundaries for your driver), and new LCD productivity screen.  Ford Work Solutions is another technology advancement that Ford cornered the market on, it's functions have an onboard computer with the capability to put a wireless keyboard and printer.  It also has the ability to track other vehicles you own through the Crew Chief function, in addition to keeping up with your tools in the bed or a front and rear locking storage underneath the seats with an auxiliary power outlet.

The list of accolades goes on for this new truck proving that if you want to remain the leader you need to continue to make improvements that the customers want.  The new Ford 6.7L Power Stroke has been tested thoroughly by a real world fleet as well as idling for weeks and several different dynometer tests.  This truck should capture the customers lost to other manufacturers during the previous engine model's continued problems while still meeting the newest diesel emission requirements making it the cleanest and meanest Ford truck yet to be produced.
