2010 Mercedes Benz E63 Amg Review

From 3arf

Sometimes, we wish that we have a car that offers everything. High performance, luxury, comfort and high-technology are now all in one car, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. It acts like a supercar and sounds like a muscle car, meanwhile it is still a luxurious Mercedes-Benz sedan.

From the outside there are the flared front fenders. The front and rear aprons and side sills are massaged to add an aggressive look. Lower front spoiler with LED running lights and tinted headlight lenses are obvious at the front.  Look at the rear of the car and you will see the quad pipes from the AMG sport exhaust which gives the E63 a fantastic sound.

While the main interior modifications include new sport seats and a four-spoke steering wheel. In the center console there is the "AMG Drive Unit" which features controls for adjusting the suspension, transmission shifts and stability management.

The E63 is powered by a 6.2 L V8 engine which replaces the previous 6.3 L one. This new engine produces 518 hp at 6800 rpm and 465 ft-lbs of torque at 5200 rpm. Compared to most competitors, that sounds good. The BMW M5 has 500 hp and the Audi S6 has 435 hp, while the Cadillac CTS-V has 556 hp. The E63's engine is matted to a seven-speed automatic transmission that features a wet clutch rather than a traditional torque converter. The E63 can do a 0-60 sprint in 4.4 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 12.3 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.

The E63 has a simplified shift lever with three positions: reverse, neutral, and drive. Park is activated by pressing a button, and manual shifts are actuated via the magnesium steering-wheel-mounted paddles. The new shift lever is surrounded by some buttons: one for stability control (on, sport, and off), one for the suspension (comfort, sport, and sport plus), and a programmable AMG button that instantly brings up your favorite combination of settings.

Safety options are available from the basic ABS/BA/EBD/DSC and seven airbags to the optional intelligent high-beams, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and a night-view camera.

Not satisfied yet, AMG offers you the AMG performance package which includes:

- Raising the top speed to 186 mph.

- A tighter suspension.

- A limited-slip differential.

- 20-inch Bangkok wheels with ultra-sticky rubber.

- Interior touches like a three-spoke steering wheel and aluminum trim bits.

You can also order the carbon-ceramic brake discs that weight 40 percent less than the standard 14.2-inch steel discs.
